Deer baiting.. legal in your province?

Legal in ontario... I have shot deer over bait and without bait... I will get mine either way... I stalk, I wait and I research and do what I have to... There is a misconcveption that you can throw a pile of apples and corn out and they just show up and mow down...

The deer will eventually come to the bait, sometimes however for a midnight or 3am snack. The deer where I hunt seem almost nocturnal, if you see one its within 30 minutes of end of legal light. Only exception seems to be in deep thick bush where they bed and its difficult to hunt there and pull one one out if you get one.

So here is a twist. While baiting in Sask. is legal, how do you ensure sick and diseased animals arn't contaminating the food pile. It has become an issue in Sask. with the cronic wasting. Even farmers leaving open grain piles, has become an issue. I have seen vidio from SERM that shows a tracked diseased animal eating from the same bait/open grain pile. Its almost like sharing a dirty needle, or unprotected ###. Eventually it will catch up with you.

It works in southern ontario but only late in the season if we get snow in december. Early season deer will not touch bait but last two years have walked into bait piles while deer have been on them. That was in the early afternoon. Not sure it is as effective in crop country. Deer like natural stuff and will go to a bait pile as a last resort.

Thank goodness not here in Alberta!

Tooot, toooot, here's the sound o'my hero horn....tooot, toooooot.

If its legal great, I don't have to do it, and I will chose not to in BC, cause I find sitting still boring.....
But I will hunt the old orchards and stuff, spot and stalk. Is there a difference?

LOL.....

Shame on you..... you should never hunt deer near a food source.... you should also never hunt deer anywhere there are does attracting them because that is unfair..... also, if you hear rattling you need to leave the area immediately because that rattling may bring in another buck and that may give you an unfair advantage....

Deer should only be killed at close range with a bic razor to the jugular so they have a fighting chance....

toot toooooot.....
