sonders road is just a name that we have given it. It really is an old logging road that runs beside a business called daveals the owner is Dave Sonders and he has been around there for a very long time hence the name sonders road. It will take you to enso park if you drive far enough.

oh and mommabear he thought it was cool he was right in there with me :D I was also really prowd of myself as this was the very first time fild dressed an animal by my self and every thing went great :D

Dear boy, who told you I used a quad back in them days. :confused:
Nope, it was dress it and drag it home by myself in the dark (by the time I had it dressed) in -18 Celcius, down the hill across the muskeg, over the creek, through the bush, across the field and oh thank goodness there's the yard light 400yards yonder across the pasture.:redface:
Trust me when you have drug a little fork horn that far in a foot of snow, not only are you nearly dead but that deer will always be way bigger to you than it looks.:p
and barefoot uphill both ways :}

Nice one Riley! Don't let the old coots with their 'in my day' stories get to you--a buck's a buck, and a nice 4x4 will keep you in sausages all winter. (y)

We start hunting at around 2:00 down Sonders road and we see nothing not even a grouse so at around 4:00 we start to head back. After another half hour of nothing we pass a small pond with lots of trees around it.

Death Junky Congrats on your deer.
The name of the road you describe is the Wedeene Mainline. it runs from the Onion Lake flats to Kitimat. Don't let those people razz you about road hunting . I am sure that most do not know that the Kitimat valley is all second growth coastal forest with 3000 stems per hectare of Hemlock and Balsam. Visibility is about 10 ft if your lucky, and there is little chance of moving around quietly.

Damn Aaron is slow with putting pictures on the comp lol.
and yes I got a field pick with me, the buck and rifle :D and that will be up soon I also got a few picks of it hanging :D

We did the butchering last night and I’m very surprised on how little meat is on one of these little deer we only got 56lbs of the good stuff off him.

Sounds like you deboned him eh Riley? Still lots of good eats.

I know your just starting out so don't take this as a slag, but as time goes on you should probably keep that bad boy 300 for the bigger critters and get another less powerfull rifle for deer like maybe a 7-08. Probably do a little less damage. Plus its a good excuse for another rifle. Whoooo hooo :dancingbanana:

Looking forward to the pics :cool:

hahaha good idea salty :D I know I need a smaller rifle but the 300 is all I have at the moment. With me in Collage my funds are a little tight so the 300 is all I can use for now.

Ummm Riley, when you mention to folks you're going to college that would be one of the most ideal times to use your spellcheck.

THIS is a collage, where you're going to is college. ;) Regardless, I'm sure it's money well spent.
