deer down

I knew I was either going to miss it by shooting to far infront, or I was going to hit the kneck or go though both shoulders. (And yes the slick trick broad heads I'm using will cut straght through both shoulder blades)

so your arrow hit about a foot further ahead than you thought it would--What would of happened if it had hit a foot too far back? Have you ever seen a deer that has been gut shot? Archery equipment is for shots at standing animals only.
See my post above

So you knew the arrow was either going to be in front of the deer, in the neck, or shoulders. But absolutely no chance it would be back huh?? Impressive... i guess. It's not about being "ethics police" it's about having respect for the animals you hunt and taking responsible and appropriate shots, imo releasing an arrow at a running deer is neither. But i'm sure you wouldn't be posting a pic of that doe if it was running away after your arrow went thru its guts.

Respecting the game I hunt means using a bullet.
Been there done that with the stick and string, I'll stick to what puts em down the quickest, and it goes bang, not "twang" :D but to each his own

mmmm just had the tenderloin.... marinated over night in red wine viniger olive oil, garlic, onions, wrapped in bacon and grilled medium rare

What are the stats? Dressed out weight? Plans for cuts?

When it comes up in conversation that I am a hunter I am often asked something along the lines of, " Are you a bow hunter?"

My answer is : "No... Far to sporting for me"

Congrats on your deer.

I have been bow hunting for over 30 years...... all I can say about this is:

Lucky, lucky, lucky.....

Enjoy your deer meet. Slow cook in white wine, onion, rosemary, salt and pepper.

Regards
Robert
Red wine vinegar, olive oil, fresh garlic, chopped oinion marinated overnight. Wrapped in bacon and sprinkled seasoning salt over, put of the bbq

I'm really suprised that there is any controversy whatsoever about this hunt - straight up irresponsible is the only answer. seriously. It's wonderful to get lucky sometimes, infact, there are occasions when the best decision was made and one still requires some luck to recover the animal. In this case to mask irresponsibilty (and stupidity) with self proclaimed skill is assinine - you got lucky after making a stupid decision - congrats, I'm genuinely happy you recovered the deer. Don't pretend or talk yourself into believing you can do it again - you might not be lucky twice.
