Defiance Sierra One .338LM complete! Photos on post 111.

Finally first part ordered. Double stack bottom metal is on the way!

Next up is the barrel, then I will still have to figure out who imports macmillan.

I love progress!

I am considering manners, for the reason that they have folders built in. The biggest question I am still trying to get answered is if they will inlet the stock for my wider DBM.

Going to be a sweet rig. I'm waiting on parts as well for my next rifle. I ordered my mcm A5 about a month ago. When I phoned McMillan and I asked delivery date they said 4-1/2-5 months.

Alright! I think I just about have the barrel and stock nailed down. Going to get a Bartlein .338 1-9.35 twist blank, whitley palma profile for the best accuracy while not going super heavyweight. (Whitley palma contour is between medium palma and heavy palma) Getting it from Hirsh precision, they have been good talking to me and have it in stock already, which is a big bonus.

Want to keep it fairly long to squeeze out all the velocity I can, but have not decided on the final length yet.

For the stock, I am going with the manners MCS-TF3A with the carbon fibre shell. (Cuts 1.1 pounds off the weight of the stock from standard shell)The company has been great with communicating with me and answering all my questions. Going to put the order in later this week.

I have a broughton 1in9.3" and it loves the 300's. Its finished at 28", I get 2850fps with 90.0gr H-1000 under 300gr bullets. I have a very heavy barrel but I like that, the extra weight makes it nice to shoot, I don't pack it around so I don't care how heavy. Its in a folding AX stock so length is not a issue, in fact when I re barrel I will go longer (30-32") might as well get all the free velocity I can get. My buddy has found a few spots to poke out to 2300-2800 yrds so every bit counts.

How much cant is in your spuhr mount? I'm running 20moa in the spuhr and 30moa in the rail , with a NF ATACR I still have 13moa(i think) down from a 100yd zero and 100+moa up. With your 20MOA base and the 5-22 NF I would run a 20moa Spuhr is possible if you want the most elevation travel for stretching wayyy out there.

Also next time I will do a strait 1 in 9" to give me a little more stability for these new 325gr and heavier bullets, though I haven't tried them in the 1 in 9.3"

2850fps with a 300gr? 90gr H-1000?
Misprint?

You got a fast barrel there. I have the same Broughton as you in a 5C finished to 28.5".
I went with a 7.1 with a custom ordered wider breech.
Could you post a pic of the rifle?

Got out the notes and measured the barrel, the barrel is 30" from recoil lug to muzzle. (Its a 5C also) Velocity was 2856 fps @ 3 degrees C, 90.0gr H-1000, (I did load work up to 92.5gr, ran into pressure at 92.0gr)

Here's a pic for Sask378

What projectiles are you planning for your 7.1" twist?

###y rig! You gotta toss those bikini caps and get a set of those tenebrex scope caps though. I handled a set a while ago and fell in love, they are top notch, going to be putting them on my rig.

Three parts rather than two for the standard butler creek flip caps, but the rubber is softer so you can't break them like the butler creeks always seem to.

I like the tenebrex caps also, have them on all my S&B's. Not sure if they can be had for the ATACR. That said, for what I use the above rifle for I actually don't mind the Bikini caps at all.

Good stuff. I was just searching Eurooptic, and it appears that they do have them for the ATACR now.
