Defiance Sierra One .338LM complete! Photos on post 111.

Stock is here guys! She is a real beauty! It feels amazing, build quality matching and exceeding McMillan quality. Fit and finish is perfect, and the stock locks up as solidly in the open position as a fixed stock. Simply amazing!

Sending off the barrel off to tac-ord to do the barreled action, then to corlanes to inlet the bottom metal into the reciever, then finally back to tac-ord for finishing.

I'm getting super excited!

That's going to be a epic build without doubt Kevin!!!

Kevin.M everything is now at Casey's waiting for him to put it all together, just like you it's been a long haul.

Gourgeous parts list you have going, those barrels look amazing, never gotten a chance to handle one in person yet. What's the weight of that barrel? And what length are you figuring on for final barrel length?

I keep toying between 26", 28", and 30".... I have a 1600m range at my disposal, so the extra 100fps with 300gr. SMK's will be nice at range, but I don't know if it will be worth it for the extra 4" of barrel... Otherwise I'm set on everything else, got everything in hand.

Kevin mine is chambered in 308 / 16" barrel 1-10 twist / being built for a very specific purpose / didn't have the patience for the Manners stock & elected to use one of my HS Precison stocks...

Oh I know, I was just curious where you ended up at since we had last talked.

Just a few more photos and a video.

Video uploading shortly.

Sent the barrel and brake out so Casey can turn part of my box-o-parts into a barreled action. Whoo-hoo! Finally starting the build portion!

No update on this thread for awhile....any news Kevin? I have a very similar plan in the works .338lm bartlien, defiance, seekins, McMillian, fat bastard, haven't decided on trigger yet and need to find a smith once the action arrives. How did you find a smith??

Awsome rifle OP, you have chosen alot of the same components that I did on my .338LM AI build. I pick mine up next week.
I would also like to see an update on this thread with some pictures of the grouping, possibly at long range.

It's been a tremendously long time in the build process. In fact it has been exactly 6 days under the 2 year mark.

Still have to play with the scope mount position and length of pull, as length of pull is too long right now, gotta remove some spacers and then adjust cheek riser position before locking the scope down.

Action is bedded and buttery smooth when feeding snap caps, trigger tech is just as good as can be expected, trigger snaps like a glass rod.

Best of all is the barrel is several inches longer than my Remington 700, but due to the folding stock, the whole package is several inches shorter. I can fit it into the short pelican cases normally reserved for more compact rifles. Gotta do some custom foam work when I get the time.

The double stack magazines were an awesome choice, as the extra height gained by having shorter and wider magazines makes prone magazine changes far smoother, and I no longer have to contort the mag to get it in without moving the rifle off target.

Now I just have to spend a bit of time with all my stocked up chinchaga projectiles and start making some test loads to see what makes this baby purr.

The stainless and black go awsome with the stock colour. What brake is that, a Terminator?
I love the Spuhr mount and wish I would have went with 1.

I really love the colours in it. I don't know if I will end up coating the metal or not, I'll sit on it a while before I make that call. The brake is a custom machined APA Fat Bastard, a real solid brake for this cal. The Spuhr has been my go to for about 4 or 5 years now on all my big bores, there are other great brands, but the spuhr has the build quality and adaptability to do what I want, plus it is just a ###y piece of machine work.

Real beautiful rifle Kevin. How did you pick a smith and what was the smiths build time?

Thanks! Picking the smith was easy for two reasons, one was that he was my trusted longtime gunsmith, and two was that he actually had brought in and branded the action as the Seirra One for his company.
Tactical Ordnance is the name of the smith, and I really can not say enough good things about Casey.

Actual build time was very reasonable with about a 3 or 4 week turnaround. The time on this build was spent learning about what I wanted, then sourcing components, it took tremendous time to source exactly what I wanted, rather than things that were close to what I wanted but in stock locally.
