Definition of a Fudd gun??

Calling other people names was not OK in Kindergarten. Obviously, some people missed that lesson. But what would you expect from the self-righteous and self congratulatory. I cannot see how this thread belongs with the adults.

WTF kind of politically correct craphole did you go to school in? Name calling has a long and proud history on the schoolyards of the world, and in a proper "learn how to take 'yer lumps" education, where kindergarten was your initiation and training ground for the skilled and effective use of escalating name calling, culminating in knockout blows of dragging your parenting into it "Yah? Well I may be a butt-munch, but at least my pa ain't on welfare!" at which point fists would get raised and noses would get bloody.

You know, the good old days when kids didn't need safe spaces because "words."

As for the original question...

A Fudd can be seen wielding...

Shotguns with barrels longer than 24"
Anything in 30-30 or 30-06
Lever guns
Sporterized WWII milsurp bolt actions... Sporterized Enfields being a particular indulgence of the Great Canadian Fudd.
Single shot anything.
Anything who's moniker starts with "Pappy's" (name your gun) or "Gramp's" (name your gun).

And if anyone feels like getting butthurt by that list, too bad. I own examples of all of the above.

But none of them make me, or anyone who owns them, a Fudd.

Fudd is a state of mind. It's a willingness to throw other gun owners under the bus, in order to preserve some mythical, long lost (and never was) grand tradition of shooting. It's the clay shooter who thinks of anyone who can't afford a $10K double as a "F@cking peasant." The ex-mil RO who loses their sh!t on anyone who can fire a bolt action at faster than 5 rounds everyone 30 seconds for engaging in "rapid fire." The trophy hunter who sneers at anyone who's "shooting for the pot." The meat hunter who sneers at target shooters who just want to "punch holes in paper."

I could go on, but basically it's any gun owner who's so narrow minded that they can't see why someone could possibly want to own a gun for any other reason than what they themselves own guns for.

And yah, there are AR-15 Fudds too.

Fudd isn't a gun. It's a person.

I think I’m a Fudd, I have shot and enjoyed, most of these Fudd Guns.

We should draft an official set of rules and requirements to start an official FUDD club. What say you?

Rule #1.....you must own at least one Remington firearm introduced prior to the introduction of the 870 express and before the introduction of tupperware stocks and Rem chokes.
My 3200 Trap should meet all criteria?.....

Ok go, you’re next. Post rule# 2.....

Excellent post in very way and could not agree more!

Most if not all the worlds problems and probably all of our hobby's problems today are faciliated by people that run around like their personalities and egos have to be sheltered and protected like eggshells made of of snowflakes.........

When I was a kid a lot of hunters but not gun guys had the cil single shot shotguns ,cooey semi 22s,Lee enfields, lakefield mossberg bolt action shotguns etc all low priced guns at the time. These were the guys that only used their guns during hunting season and never shot them otherwise.A lot of the guys living in the country my grandfather included was like that, they had guns that got the job done and didn t have money to waste on something fancy and just weren't t that in to guns like guys like our selves. While I don t personally have black guns or handguns and like the old walnut and steel guns of yesterday I realize a loss from one type of gun or another is a loss for us all.We should save our enmity for the people that deserve the anti gun
crowd.

Sounds like my Dad.

The single shot Cooey 12guage might be a good Fudd gun. Also a poverty gun though.

That was my second shotgun. My first one was an El Faisan 410 double which was a piss poor killer on pest critters, but fuddy lookin' fer sure.

I still have my first .22 which is a Cooey 39. Wish I had kept me 1st centerfire.. a No 1 Mk III sporter that shot quite well.:bangHead:

Fudd in a nutshell: "MY guns are fine--YOURS are too dangerous for mere pissant proles to touch." It's not the gun specifically, it's the "I got mine, f*** everybody else whose interests aren't exactly the same as mine" attitude--and those few in Handguns or Tactical Rifles who have that same IGMSSY attitude are no better.

I've heard many definitions of FUDD, one of them was "someone who likes blued guns with wood stocks" in that case, I'm a FUDD. Because even my AR-15 has a wood stock.

To get this thread back on topic, Here's my FUDD gun;

This is my favourite "Fudd Gun" - it knocks a couple of marks off my checklist from earlier.

Winchester Model 50

It's a shotgun with a barrel longer than 24"
It was "pappy's gun"

It also works just fine for "shooting for the pot"

^^ Love those 50's. They seem to have a distinctive "bark". I still have one. Pretty much a two man job putting one of those baskerds back together

** I have several "fudd" guns. My Dad owned two guns - a Tobin double 12 ga. and a sporter BSA M1917. I have been buying and shooting for 55+ years, and have spent a fair bit of time and money milling around in the firearms world. After reading some of the posts on CGN, I realize I hardly know anything, compared to some.
