I never said it didn't compensate for changes in air density. But it doesn't compensate for changes in muzzle velocity.

On any of my ballistic programs changes in muzzle velocity due to say a 15 degree temp swing makes way more difference then the change in air density due to that same 15 degree variance. Changes in muzzle velocity gathered using my chronograph.

Different with every powder yes but always there. Unless your entering the correct muzzle velocity every time you go out then your numbers are off from the start.

Gathered from some of your previous posts you make it sound like you could be zeroed at 200 yards, range a deer out at 1000 yards dial in what your G7 tells you to and hit the thing??

I have sighted in my 7mag during the summer at sea level. Plugged in my data into the G7 ... Muzzle velocity , G7 BC , Bullet wieght , Driven to 2700ft ASL during the winter with snow on the ground, hadnt touched or changed a thing ... " dont know what the temp was ... didnt care " set up a target at 1140 yards on aproximatly a 25 degree downward slope, Pushed the button on my G7 it gave me the range and told me to dial Aprox 37 min of angle ... " might have bin 37.25 cant remember exsactly " Dialed my NXS 250 Pulled the trigger on my 7mag and pounded 2 rounds into the same hole 6 inches low and left. then shot 8 more shots, obviously with a little heat in the barrel ... 4 were in the apracot and the other 4 danced around it for a 9 inch 10 shot total group at 1140yrds.

I personally use Retumbo powder and do not have enough descrepancies in velocities that create a noticable effect in my drop at the ranges i shoot, and i live on the island and the veriables couldnt change more... Dont know what else to say.

I regularely shoot .5 MOA just inside 1000 yards, my load is happiest inside 975 or better. for some reason after that it opens up. Im perfectly happy with that.

I posted before the farthest ive taken game is 733 yards. I was in the sub alpine during the winter " same scenario " cold , snow , steep decline shot at altitude , and the bullet hit exactly where i was aiming and the buck was dead before it hit the gound.

Well Pilot it sounds like the g7 is a great unit also, seems youve tested the bejesus out of it which is good for the people that are looking to buy a new LRF.
At least now we have 2 great high end units that work for any hunting needs at a reasonable price!

Ive spent alot of time with the unit. Thats my only point is that there is more than one option out there.

Well, at least Retumbo is less sensitive to temp changes than most other powders.

All powders are affected by temperature, though. Some more than others. No such thing as a temperature-proof powder ;)

I agree ... i just dont get enough fluctuation with Retumbo to effect my loads to where its something im real concerned about.

Two bullet holes touching at 1140 yards can happen to anyone once. I wouldn't discount it. If a guy claimed to be putting his bullets in the same hole at that range all the time, then I'd certainly consider the source.

I think Pilot was just relaying his best groups which isn't a problem . How many of us post about our bad groups? I have had bullets almost exactly in the same hole at long range but it is rare.
I for one really appreciate he took the time to report on the G7.

Hey pilot, sounds like you must have a really nice rifle there. Making bullet holes touch at 1140yrd I don't know about you other guys on here, but I know I'm impressed for sure!

What kind of rifle are you shooting anyways? Could you share some details with us? Maybe post a picture or two of your rifle

Dude taker easy.

Care to post a pic of a rifle you kept for more then one day? :stirthepot2:
