That nickeled auction piece was a 1943 Colt USGI frame with a commercial slide on it. Even if the nickel was removed the two major components aren't correct to eachother.

Nor do they allow the prospective purchaser to see that this pistol has a stippled front strap.I agree the Norc wraparounds, although quite 'functional' don't do anything to capture the nostalgia of it's looks.
And on a side note, how come the parkerizing on the front quarter of the pistol is darker than the rest?
