Derya MK-12 range report

Can someone tell me if an AR-15 backplate looks like it will fit? I want to replace it with the Magpul QD Sling plate. I saw some info in another thread that it is a standard commercial spec tube...just wondering if the receiver is a weird shape that will leave gaps or something.

I picked up my new ACR from Wanstalls today and had a look at the MK12. My wife doesn't know it yet but one will be coming home with next month!

I want to change mine and will let you know.

Anyone done any experimenting with the chokes to see how these pattern? Are the ones that come with it steel shot friendly or should we stick to lead? Anyone find a cool extended breacher choke or something neat for them?

In case anyone else was wondering the same I contacted the retailer and he told me that they have a chrome lined bore and the chokes are steel shot friendly.

Hey it looks good. I might go that route if I can get my money back for the fake Typhoon F-12's I got suckered into thinking were real.

Got mine today. Damn they slather these things in oil. Did some mods to the case to fit optics, more mags, etc. Feels good, impressed with the action so far. Will take it out tomorrow.

Looks good.
I completely stripped mine to get all that oil out then lubed it with grease in the bolt carrier tracks and oil on all other moving parts before I shot it.
I'm hoping to get mine out again today to run some slugs through it and print some groups.
Is that the rifled choke sticking out the end? How much was it and where did you order it from? I'm looking forward to seeing how it groups with that compared to the cylinder choke. I was thinking of getting a breacher choke just for how mean it would look with it.

Yep, that's the rifled choke. It was $70 from here: http://www.alscornerstore.ca/online_sales/views/itemview.aro?itemid=96

They also have a bunch of other interesting specialized choke tubes like one specifically for buckshot, breacher, etc.

Took it to the range today and put 35 slugs through it. I was not really impressed with my groups, but not blaming the gun. I had my RDS loosen on me and I did not have a very good setup for bench shooting. I will go back soon and post my groups. I think I will probably work on the trigger a bit too.

It handled recoil really well, even off the bench. 3" full powered slugs had me clamping down on the thing pretty good out of fear that it would drive that magnifier into my eye socket, but they weren't bad at all. Certainly kick, but no sore shoulder and no headache.

I did have an internal failure though. This was after the 3" slugs. This spring clip popped off and prevented the bolt from going into battery:

Easy enought to fix without any tools but hoping it doesn't happen again.

Yesterday I did some messing around with my MK-12, discovered that you can not use an AR grip with a beavertail, the contour of the receiver does not match up and it leaves a gap. Also, the thread for the grip bolt is different so you must reuse the one the gun came with.

Instead of shooting groups with slugs I decided to take the MK-12 and my Versa-max out with my new clay thrower and have some fun. Clays are almost effortless with the Rem and once I got used to using a red dot on the Derya for small flying things it wasn't too bad. Granted, because I was pulling for myself the clays were easy because they were all flying straight out in front of me.
Today the MK-12 only had one failure, while using light Challenger target loads I had one stuff into the feed ramp causing a stoppage, a quick correction and it was eating everything again including the Federal field loads it had a failure with last time out.
It seems to be loosening up nicely and I'm probably only at around 60 rounds through it now.

Got my magazine belt clips today. They seem perfect. Fit on my competition belt, or any other belt with very good retention and also very easy to remove. I'm not going to torture test them, but the material seems strong and flexible so I'm not worried about breaking them.
