Derya MK12, just buy one already! Lol

I took Jay's advice and bought one too :). I had fired his after firing my 870 and you could tell the gas system was absorbing a fair amount of the recoil. As I get older, getting pounded is not as much fun as it used to be.

I like mine for turkeys too :)

Awesome Gobbler!!! Congrats polskiogorki!!!

Can I ask which extended Turkey Tube that is? I have found that not every Beretta Mobil type tube fits... Actually took my shotgun to Al's Corner Store in Arnprior to have them fit one. I tell everyone to try before you buy wrt fitting a tube...

Welcome to the dark side... Lol  :ar15:

Speak of Al's, I'm looking at ordering a Rifled Choke for the gun but I'm wondering if anyone has had any real accuracy improvements with a rifled choke? I understand it is likely to only improve fullbore slug accuracy and won't be a fast enough twist for sabots.

Couple questions, since I'm a clays-only shooter who likes weird stuff all the same.

Can you port load the gun and easily close the bolt with an empty magazine in place, which is how the gun would have to be manipulated on a trap field?

Break in. Is it mandatory to use (expensive) slugs to break in the gun or can you just shoot the thing with target loads at the clays range and eat the malfunctions until it smooths out?

If a guy has to buy $100 worth of slugs that he otherwise has no use for, to get the gun running, then the gun costs $100 more than the sticker price.

I have zero use for slugs or buckshot.

Just looking to either make an informed purchase or walk away

^^^ send me your gun, I will run 100 rds of slugs and buck through it!!!

I had to buy the aftermarket bolt release but yes after that very easy to throw one in the loading port and close the bolt

The Derya MK12 now comes with a light and heavy piston... COREY could speak to this having just bought one. My assumption is that putting the light piston would immediately get you running with light loads no issue.

My Derya MK12 only has the one piston, and it's not marked... It tosses the turkey loads about 15 feet to the right & a couple feet forward. I don't plan on shooting many of those loads as they are HEAVY @ 1&7/8oz of lead!

Cheers

I was going to get one as well for trap shooting, but found out our club doesn’t allow barrels under 26”. So I’m out. I still want to try one though, they look super cool. It would be nice if they made a 20 gauge, I’d take to the bush.

Just buy a 6inch barrel extension. Problem solved ;)

This is the choke I use
Cheaper one but it's ok

How do you find the patterns polskigorki? I used the factory full when I shot my turkey & was glad the bird was only 25m away. Now I have the extended turkey tube & have to pattern it... Curious what distance you tried yours at.

Where did you get that holosun for 405$?

Got it at Iron Sights in Fredericton. h t t p://istc.ca/site/

Well got mine and having issues. One bad mag that causes FTE and double feeds. That's not the big problem though as I'm getting light primer strikes maybe 35% of the time and with many different types of ammo. I have put at least 200 rounds through it and done full disassembly and cleaning. I'm no gunsmith...but compared to other modern sporting rifles I have the hammer spring feels weak, either that or a strong spring on the firing pin? Open to any suggestions, for now I'm waiting to hear back from Odell.

Airbatic do you have access to another Mk12 for comparison of the hammer spring strength?

I did hear of a burr on a firing pin causing this. Derya now stakes in the firing pin retaining pin so inspecting for this could be difficult. What you can do is by hand push the firing pin with your finger to feel for a burr or excessive strength firing pin spring.

It is possible the hammer spring is weak or installed incorrectly. Seen this happen with AR15's.

Then there is the slight possibility the hammer is off in alignment from poor machining. The hammer could then connect with something on its way to striking the firing pin and that slowing the hammer.

Finally the hammer could be falling before the bolt is fully in battery. The hammer is then pushing the bolt fully home and little energy left to strike the firing pin hard enough. This could be happening due to the barrel not correctly installed, lack of lube, or break in is not complete. I have seen this on AR15's.

Don't worry about this too much we will get it sorted out and don't let Murry get to you. He just trolls this thread.

So I finally heard from Odell about a week after filling out the warranty form online. They asked and I just sent in the pictures of the light strikes.

I was looking at the gun again at lunch time and think there could be some misalignment- I see some odd wear Mark's and mushrooming on the hammer. I'll post some more pics tonight.

There is a guy in my club with a mk12 too. We are supposed to go the range Monday and play mix/match with the lowers, then see if the issue persists.
