I like mine for turkeys too![]()
I took Jay's advice and bought one too. I had fired his after firing my 870 and you could tell the gas system was absorbing a fair amount of the recoil. As I get older, getting pounded is not as much fun as it used to be.

Break in. Is it mandatory to use (expensive) slugs to break in the gun or can you just shoot the thing with target loads at the clays range and eat the malfunctions until it smooths out?
Just looking to either make an informed purchase or walk away
Couple questions, since I'm a clays-only shooter who likes weird stuff all the same.
Can you port load the gun and easily close the bolt with an empty magazine in place, which is how the gun would have to be manipulated on a trap field?

If a guy has to buy $100 worth of slugs that he otherwise has no use for, to get the gun running, then the gun costs $100 more than the sticker price.
I have zero use for slugs or buckshot.

I was going to get one as well for trap shooting, but found out our club doesn’t allow barrels under 26”. So I’m out. I still want to try one though, they look super cool. It would be nice if they made a 20 gauge, I’d take to the bush.
