Desert Eagle .50 Cal

Sounds like there’s a few “ I can’t handle the recoil no one else can” people hating on the Desert Eagle. Just get one and enjoy it. There was definitely a good point brought up about finding one on EE, they tend to have a low round count. I’d bet it’s mostly because the cost of ammo when You can find it. Big boomers are fun! I absolutely love my 460 S&W. It’s expensive to shoot! But I still shoot it. Yeah there’s a few down sides to the Desert Eagle in 50AE. If You can afford it, just get one.

I bought one just for sh!ts and giggles, and it does not disappoint. For someone that already has a bunch of pistols and shoots a lot, they're something fun and different. I've shot steel challenge with mine a few times, and it's a riot. Be prepared for everyone asking if they can shoot it though, kind of just one of those deals. They're gigantic, not very ergonomic, completely impractical, and mostly ridiculous. But that's kind of the point. If the fire ring they throw out doesn't put a smile on your face the first time you see it, you bought it for the wrong reasons.

And definitely don't buy one unless you reload. 2 bucks a shot gets old real fast, and it'll make you want to not shoot it. Unless you're rich, then fill your boots.

Aaand lastly, there are much better 44/357 mag guns out there. I personally don't see the point in a DE unless it's in .50AE. It's like buying a V6 Camaro. They make them, but why??

If I wanted to buy one of these. Would you recommend it and where in Canada can you get one?

Thanks

Love love love me my .44 crome DE....not so convinced the .50 would be as fun to shoot tho?!
Oh yeah one more thing... Don't feed your eagle lead bird seed... They don't like it!

The DE is a ridiculous joke...and that's why I love mine. It's fun to put 20 rounds through it per year and just enjoy it for the foolish piece of hardware that it is. If anything, it is a great conversation piece and it always puts a smile on the shooters face. If you got the scratch and want one, go for it. Ignore the crab bucket haters.

This is the best answer right here for buying one. If this is your intention then your good to go.

I've had my 50 for around 25 years, and I've done one, maybe two spring changes in it. Thing still runs great, last time I looked in the book it was over 10k rounds through it, mostly handloads. I have around 4,000 cases with a variety of firings on them and another 1000 new Starline. Easily my most popular gun to let people shoot (and yes they pay for every round fired).

Figured I'd rather resurrect an old thread than start a new one. If a guy was looking for a Desert Eagle for no other reason than to have the big F**K you gun in the safe as a conversation piece. Where would they buy such an item these days? Is everyone sold out?? looking for a .50AE

You are just a bit late. There were a bunch of Desert Eagles for sale in the past week. But I checked a few stores for you, but they are out of stock. Perhaps check all sponsor gun stores and you might get lucky.

I think I may have just ordered one of the last ones from Canada's Gun Store. I think Ellwood Epps has a few left - 3 black, and 3 black L5s, and a stainless with brake. All 44, but you can get a 50AE barrel and mags later.

Ended up doing exactly that. Found one in the EE. I guess even if the handgun world ends, we will still be able to get barrels & mags.

No. If you have to buy one get one used. 90% of the used ones are new never fired or have less then 20 rounds on them. Total waste of money. Don’t expect it to run in .50ae. It’s not fun to shoot. If your goal is to just impress other people who don’t know any better and want them to shoot your gun then go for it.

LMAO .... " Don't expect it to run in 50AE" Whatcha talkin bout Willis? I have a Satin Nickel XIX in 50ae with a solid, no bs 2k through it with nothing more than replacement springs. I also have an L6 44 mag with probably around 1k through it, no issues. Guys who have issues with them either load them too light, don't maintain them or limp wrist them like a baby. Are they as reliable as say a Glock ? NO. However, I have had zero issues with both of mine and they are an absolute blast to shoot.

The recoil is very mild in comparison to my big bore revolvers however, its no more than hot 357 IMO. My 500,460, 454 , 480 and 40-70 revolver all kick WAY more than the deagle does.

Almost every person I know with a 50AE, myself included, reloads. I've loaded around 15k worth of 50 over the years and just picked up another 500 new cases and 5k in bullets.
