Desert Eagle

I shoot Sellor Bellot (factory) in .44 mag with heavy springs all the time no problems. If you buy low end Remington and Winchester (white box) range ammo then you will have problems for sure because the range ammo though cheap is crap. I reload to save money and produce quality ammo. If you want an Eagle to run on range quality ammo then you need to put the lighter spring system in the gun and it will solve all your problems BUT, don't fire hot loads with the light springs as the slide will return quite abrupt.

The orriginal .50 AE is identical to the new XIX series (except for the fluted barrel), it is the older .357 and .44 guns that have been changed so that all three guns are parts interchangable.

IMI did not build a gun that does not work and you can't feed a Ferrari ethonal nor can you feed an Eagle cheap ammo.

How much did that set you back, Merc? Dunno if I'd do it to my DE, but I have a couple of guns that I think'd look cool in that finish...

It came from the factory with the Gold Titanium finish and it was $2200 right to my door. Took three weeks to arrive. I fired 300 rounds of factory Magnum Research .50AE with it and had the slide not return to battery three times out of that 300. Not bad. I haven't had a problem at all with my reloads. I've fired about 400 of them so far. Great big fireballs too, lots of fun.

Yes...
FIRE!!!
:D
Warms my soul but burns my eye brows.
My first fire arm I ever bought and will be the last one to ever part with. Although mine is nickel opposed to gold.

My 6" .44 DE is Black finish with adjustable sights . It has cycled ALL kinds of facotry ammo and never had a hitch. I reload with H110 and 300gr JHP. I've never had a hic-cup. Keep it clean and use good components / ammo and you will not be sorry.

Regards,

haha i was just waiting for merc to start showing off the pics of his DE...guess its my turn to follow suit! great gun, expensive to shoot, tough to find components to reload, but a great gun to shoot and show off!

enjoy

had a chance to try peter2772000's DE wasn't that bad. i think i just would need to man up a bit to rack it (heavy return spring) and maybe grow some bigger hands. but with a bit of practice my sissy hands would be able to hold it and hit the target proper. it is a fun piece despite it always glorified in movies it isn't that bad.

Hey Chris have you picked up a set of Hogue grips yet? If not, get 'em as soon as you can. They make a huge difference.

havent gotten around to it...been wrapped up in a number of other projects like my AR, new precision rifle, new car, etc....for some reason i cant find $50 for the hogue grip! lol

the ar and rifle are pretty pimp though...pm'ing u the pics!

Not bad! Within a week, I got my ATT to bring my big baby home.
First order of business was to strip her to her skivvies and allow her to soak in solvent. She sure was gunked up. Which is encouraging, seeing as she didn't jam up in the 30+ rounds we've put her thru to date while shooting American Eagle 240 gr HP

Question. How'n tarnation do you remove the bolt from the slide? I've tried everything except to sacrifice a virgin chicken (it's almost impossible to find a virgin chicken, they're so slutty.....:p)

Thanks for that, but the issue I have is for removing the actual bolt itself from the slide. I've already disassembled the pistol more than was shown in your vid clip (eg: the firing pin), but cannot for the life of me figure out how to get that bolt outta the slide...

It's in the manual. Take the back side of the tool and put it under the ridge of the round retaining pin in the slide that holds the bolt in and pull it out. But befroe you do that take the small end of the tool and push it into the fireing pin hole where the hammer strikes the pin and slide the fireing pin retainer it towards the bottom of the grip then remove the pin then pull the bolt retaing pin from the slide and remove the bolt.

Firing pin first then the bolt.

Thanks qqqqquuuuuu. I figured it out this evening before reading your post. I had the slide as well as the front part of the frame soaking in gun solvent for 24 hrs to remove some stubborn crud!

Well, here she is. Squeaky clean and ready for more boom booms :p

Question. Is this gun nickeled or stainless? My $$ are on nickeled, but I wanna be sure ;)

Your welcome ... I had the whole set of Eagles including the Baby ( which I did not like )But I love the full grown Eagles so you get good at that sort of thing.
