So I'm thinking of getting a 50AE desert Eagle and noticed it had a few different manufactures over the years:

Magnum Research
(2009–current)
Magnum Research and Israel Weapon Industries
(2005–2009)
Israel Military Industries
(1998–2005)
(1982–1995)
Saco Defense
(1995-1998)

Dose anyone know if there is any (quality) difference between manufacturers, and is there anything to look out for?

I've always thought of the Desert Eagle as an Israeli made gun.

It would be weird to see "Made in USA" stamped on the side.

Not a bad thing at all, just kind of funny.

Yes, it's a run made by IWI (Israel Weapon Industries) but it's still made for Kahr arms's Magnum Research in Pillager, MN. From the research I've made, I found out that the better ones were were the ones just before the Picatinny top rail introduced in 2010. Between 2005-2009 they were made in Israel by IWI for Magnum Research Minneapolis, MN right before Kahr Arms bought the company in June 2010 and moved it to Pillager.

I just received my new .44 Desert Eagle Mark VII today. I bought it because I think they look better than the mark XIX that have the rail. I was surprised that I found one that's new in the box. It has a mirror chrome finish with gold trigger, safety, hammer etc. It looks like something a third world drug lord should have. Perfect!

Haha, excellent. Just don't be a total dumbass and wear it down the front of your pants where some dude can grab it and shoot your d*ck off during a big drug deal that goes south ;), because then you have no excuse to go out and buy all those guns that prevent your d*ck from falling off

Sorry for the small pic. I have not taken the time to figure out how to attach pics yet.

If you want a range toy that chokes frequently and eats parts, buy it. Otherwise stay away from them, they're junk.

Shooting CHEAP cast bullets causes the jams, fire jacketed round and you won't have issues.

Cast lead ammunition clogs the gas ports.

My 50AE has been great. Only seen it jam when people limp wrist it....have to give it a solid death grip

My Desert Eagle works flawlessly, most fun I have at the range is when I pull it out. I started reloading my own shells and I have never had a f.t.f.
