Desert Tech/Desert Tactical SRS Covert

Sport Target Canada is the other dealer on here that carry DTR, What with the TSE hater? believe is or not , is not his false.

He threw it in their lap trying to screw over the competition and ended up screwing us all over. Then posted a video apologizing, sounds like even he realizes it was his fault.

This has been discussed to death in other threads so that's that's the last I'm going to post about it in this thread.

I need to be reminded of the other place in Canada that sells DTA. I can't remember who it was and I'll never spend another dime at TSE.

A non sponsoring member that just recently left this site in BC sells them too. Another point for polymer is winter use ive always heard people trash plastic bolt knobs and trigger shoes, personally I prefer both items plastic over metal for winter use reasons. In fact the only thing I dislike about the PGW timberwolf/coyote is I wish they could have incorporated polymer more, especially into the forend on their folding chassis. Gloves are a must with that thing even in mild winter conditions -15 to 0. That being said im still going to add a pgw coyote to the fold eventually.

Once you get a timber-wolf, nothing is that nice compare to except AI, I use thin polymer film wrap the bolt knob, abit sticky but work great.

Get the McMillan A-5 Coyote. Mine is all season.

If I could just interrupt the weeny waggling contest for a second I have a question in regards to the DTA rifles.
How does cheek weld work? Is there a way to bring it up? Every rifle I have owned I have had to get a cheek rest for them to get a proper view through the scope. Its usually because normal stocks drop way too low for me and and a proper cheek weld makes me stare into the bolt or the rings. I usually have to bring the rest so that its level with the rail to get a clear picture.

The way the dta's are built because the bolt slides under your face it doesn't look like you could even tape some foam to bring your face up.
Has anyone had cheek weld issues with this rifle with medium rings and 50mm scopes or a NF beast? I can't do the chin weld thing I may as well throw a rock when that happens.

I had an S&B PMII 5-25x56mm mounted on my DTA (.308 and 338LM barrels) for years. The design of their cheek-weld was just right and I had no issues with the sight picture, even at 25x. The new A-1's have adjustable cheek-welds though, if there are any issues.

They're very well designed, and perform as you'd expect. I'm just loving the Covert .308...it's more compact than an RFB.

Thanks for the answers guys! Every review I've watched must be older before the a1's cause I haven't seen a cheek riser on one yet.

I have a new A1 (to me) with the adjustable cheek rest etc. This platform will take some getting used to for any shooter. It is certainly a sub minute-half minute rifle, you just have a few fundamentals tweeks to sort. Right out of the gate however I strongly suggest moving the bipod attachment back. Too far forward and it gets really jumpy on recoil. How far is a personal thing. Next is getting the trigger in order. There is a very small sweet spot on my rifle where I have a very crisp single stage break at 3#. My DTA doesn't have anything like the two stage my AIAW has. However it shoots just as well. Still working up loads. Seems to really like Berger 175 OTMs and did just fine with my 168 SMK match load. Now if I could only get the AI and DTA to shoot as well as my DPMS Panther SASS :)
