Desert Tech SRS-A1 338LM Gets Brutalized

So much for the people saying they don't want a cartridge that close to their face because it's more dangerous lol.

Pretty much well my thoughts as well. I still have some concern over an out of battery discharge with semi auto rifles however. That said I recently seen a rifle on Tavor owners group on Facebook that had just that happen and looks like it will be fully operational again with a few parts swapped out for fresh ones. Guy didn't even have scratch on him.

There was a post a while back of a T97 loaded with a round that was full of pistol powder.

Broke some stuff on the gun but the guy got only a scratch from it. That solidified me not worrying I think.

I wonder how a PGW Timberwolf would fare under the same tests.... I hear the Cdn forces beat all the test rifles brutally during the sniper trials years back.

Interesting....

PS, any action that sees that level of overpressure, gets chopped.

Yea most quality bolt guns like AI, Sako or Steyr will do the same... it's only the cheaper stuff you have to worry about.

Maybe... but my understanding is that ALL US offered bolt actions have to survive over pressures to around 120,000psi and are tested before the Lawyers let them out the door. Part of the proof pressure testing that all designs must/should undergo.

now this is to survive 1 firing at this silly level. Like crash testing cars, there is a level all consumer products must meet.

I think the DT faired better then most generic hunting rifles but don't kid yourself... US lawsuits expose millions of hunting actions vs a few semi custom rigs.

So where are the odds of greater risk to something really bad happening?

Every rifle and every barrel that comes out of Britain must also be proof fired.

PGW and AI will survive this abuse as well, there is a reason their receivers are as massive as they are.
