Deuce and half restoration...interested?

Back in 82 they were selling 2 Duces for $2,500. 1 to drive and 1 for parts.
All your stories bring back memories. Nothing like riding in the back of a Duce with the rest of your riflemen, the engine sounds, the gear shakes, the exhaust scent.
And when I drove them, yes wiper vacuum leak,electric fuel pump loose, heat only from hole in floor at tranny dipstick! But fun.

The FAT has 20 inch tires with 8 bolt rims, and a mid-mounted winch, and are based on the 3 ton (60cwt) chassis. The Heavy utilities are a much lighter truck, based on the 8cwt. But they are all Canadian Military Pattern with a high degree of interchangeability between the various vehicles. As of about Dec of 41, all featured the distinctive Canadian cab with the forward sloping windshields.
 
Pretty cool stuff. I'd like to get my hands on an old school wrecker variant. There's one out front of 2 Svc BN and the crane looks like a real hoot to pilot.

I thought the deuce had a SBC truck motor with a carb on top?

The stretched MRT MLVW are cool as well. Hunter heater in the back, longer frame with a hyd system and decent winch.. You could drive one out into the bush and go camping ... for FUN!
If I actually owned one I could put a REAL heater in it too!
 
Had the bright idea to go for a short spin...wanted to see how the engine ran and kept cool after all the work--and how the tranny shifted with the fresh (modern) oil...

got stuck halfway outa the shop....got mad...swore...cussed...jumped up and down...and put the front driveshaft back in...

regardless....the sheer ice under an inch of snow prevented any sensible control-even at half a mile an hour...so I took some pictures and put it back

Hey, hey, hey is that ever a big turn around for that truck ! Well done Klunk, and I like the paint you put down on it.
 
Here is a shot of my M135 on it's way to a display this summer. It just got a fresh coat of paint, and runs like a top. Does love it's gasoline tho....
I did it up in the earlier colour and with the early mirrors to match the time period of the trailer behind it. I still have to apply the proper markings yet.
