Did Anyone Tote a Traditional Levergun this Season?

I wish I could post photos - got a good one of a good friend of mine. He was a first time hunter this year, so I took him out. Got his first buck with a model 94 30-30, open sights. Bang flop with a 170gr, he had a pretty big smile.

This is Gold!

I rekon the cool part is he will never forget the first one, an the fact it was with a old 94 is epic..... so many firsts get taken down with a savage axis, or a Mossberg or a budget gun ya know...... historically.. the 94 fits in well in this story!

Carried my Winchester 1885 in 405 Win a bit this year. Only saw a small doe while I had it. I have not killed with it ,so it was temping but the old hunter in me let it go. I don't want to kill just because the gun hasn't.

Hoping one or some of you took a sweet ol Model 94 of some sort out for a Deer this year??

pics or it didn't appen

an some info on the rifle used
Cheers:cool:

One nephew put down a Manitoulin deer with our Remlin 336C in 35 rem.
The 336s haven’t changed much in many years.
One of the old makes and models that’s still around and being made today.
The simple design is the key.
The 336/1895 action is easy to strip down and reassemble unlike the win 92s and 94s.
John Browning designed the winchesters for the really smart gun owners and John Marlin made the marlin leverguns for the rest of us.

Took a nice doe with my vintage set-up, 1952 Marlin 336A rifle with Williams peeps. The good old 35 Remington proved it's worth once again. I have lots of other rifles but carrying this rig through the northern Ontario woods just feels right!
Cheers!

Bought an old 3030 a year ago, I took it out a month ago. Put up a target to see how she shoots, she shot great :) Then i took her hunting and shot a nice little buck through the eye at 60 yards.. Have not shot or rifle hunted since I started bow hunting 7 years back. It felt good to be able to reach out with a rifle again..
