Did these dogs ruin my hunt for the next little while?

You're allowed to use anything up to a .270 for hunting coyotes any time of the year, including the time when the archery only season is open for deer. You can carry a .270 and shoot coyotes with it all year, except when you're going bow hunting for deer.

I know all that, BUT there are also hunting bylaws in every town/city or whatever and my city has a very VERY small section that is approved for firearms hunting, and its likely on someones private property. Sooo, I will have to stick to using a non firearm for hunting in my current hunting area that is out of the gun friendly area of Niagara Falls.

I can't sleep and am bored...

I took a look at the maps for Niagara Falls and the "Area Prohibiting Discharge of Firearms" and "City of Niagara Falls No Hunting Bylaw" maps are the exact same meaning anywhere you're not supposed to use a firearm, you shouldn't be hunting either. If you're in an area around the falls where you're allowed to be hunting you will be in an area that permits using a firearm for coyote. If you're hunting in the non gun friendly area, you're in a no hunting zone.

Interesting find. I was under the impression the hunting map was in regards to the use of firearms as discussed near the top of the few pages in that link. I can also tell you that there are hundreds of people hunting all over the outskirts of the city within that maps "no hunting" area and they have been doing it for as long as my father-in-law was a kid right up to today. In fact, one of my hunting partners in this area we use was stopped by a warden a couple years ago and his only concern was the time that he and HIS buddy where leaving the bush (just after the 30 minutes after sunset).

I also wonder if since its just a "by-law" that only a "bylaw" officer can bother you about it, and if that is the case, if its like any other "bylaw" that I have had to deal with, then they ONLY come bother you if someone calls them for the violation of a "bylaw"....hmmmm....
