The wording of this particular law actually quite clearly allows for you to put whatever you want into whatever mag you want, and then put that mag into whatever gun it will fit.
Almost as if it were on purpose.
It is the magazine that is the prohibited item if it holds more than 10 rounds of the ammunition it was originally designed to hold.
Period.
The use is not defined, and conspicuous by it's absence.

sadly no. it seems nobody knows. i have a feeling that the gating item is the woodchuck, actually. once we sort out the "how many 9mm rounds will fit into a woodchuck?" question, we get enough info to address the "how many 9mm rounds will fit into an original VW Beetle?", which then makes the 33-cap Glock mag question really easy to answer...

It's not legal (probably) to do that, as Slavex alluded to, it must work as originally designed:
If you end up in court over this I guarantee that RCMP forensics will state in their report that the design of the magazine was altered if you fiddle with the feedlips, and you are in possession of a prohibited device.
Yes, you might be able to win in court, who knows, that's what courts are for but I wouldn't try it myself.
In my experience, very few .40 mags work properly unaltered with 9mm. Or any, in fact, just trying to think of one where it worked. Even if the lips hold the round they usually sit too high. If you're lucky you end up with a somewhat unreliable 12-round magazine, not worth the effort imv.

we ought to get 3 woodchucks - one control 'chuck, one 'chuck for determining how many (unfired) rounds can be chambered inside the woodchuck, and one 'chuck to check (fired) bullet capacity.
i have a feeling that the results will be quite shocking! moreso for the woodchuck...
This to me seems like a good way to end up getting your handguns taken way and having a big legal bill. Since we are only shooting at ranges why are hi cap mag's desirable anyway, if target shooting is the name of the game. Jeeze, my range only allows five rounds per mag!
