Did you sell a Valmet M78 to Klunk??

Please correct me if I'm wrong but from what I have been told the Executor has 1 year to dispose of said items. and they have the same powers as the person who owned the firearms.

A time limit was NEVER mentioned to me ever. I began settling my bro's estate 7 years after he passsed away. Took over a year to dispose of his prohibs, but the CFP did phone once to enquiry about the status.

I dont know any of you guys, or the deceased party involved. Just wanted to give my sincere condolences, and express my happiness that the rifle in question has been cleared. Cheers boys, God bless.

The last time I was briefed on estates, the only limit was "a reasonable time". No one year or anything. Come to think of it, I know of estates in Saskatchewan that have been generating resource revenue after the old folks died, and the successors have finally been forced by Rev Canada after 25 years to settle up.

It got cleared from the police who changed its status to non restricted as it should be.

I am soon to post a thread of the details so please stand by.

Lots of thought going into it.....
Was just curious of caliber and accessories...definitely gonna read th3 tread. Thanks

I think it may have been during C42, but a NDP member of the committee on the bill tried to put in an amendment to make the period for disposal 30 days. Could you imagine having to bury a loved one, and dispose of higher end or 12X firearms within 30 days of the death? A reasonable return on the estate firearms would not likely be realized.

That Valmet may have come from Fireball. Who incidentally, bought your AR10t, and you ended up buying his AR10 SASS. He sold a few of his Valmet collection so I can't confirm but looking at the feedback Klunk bought from him and it would fit. So if you need further information on it, that would likely be a good place to start.

Sorry. I only just saw this now. If it was bought from Fireball, this would have been sorted out really quick for you.

PS, Sorry to hear about Klunk. He had some excellent post and will be missed.

A few years ago I took a phone call from a young man who's father had passed by his own hand. The police had seized all of dads firearms so the lad was asking how to get them back. When I asked him what the police had told him as to why they would not return them he told me he was told that it was because one of the guns had been used in a crime, specifically the suicide of his father.

I informed the young man that suicide was not a criminal offense and therefore not a crime as there was no way to get a conviction for such a thing therefore the police where not telling him the truth.

I suggested he get a lawyer to write a letter informing the police that he would by coming to pick up his inherited property on such and such a date, he did and his dads firearms were turned over to him without any further fuss.

Sorry to see you go Klunk, I am also sorry you felt this was the only way out. For Gods sake guys, talk to your friends, make sure they are alright.

Scott
