A few years ago I took a phone call from a young man who's father had passed by his own hand. The police had seized all of dads firearms so the lad was asking how to get them back. When I asked him what the police had told him as to why they would not return them he told me he was told that it was because one of the guns had been used in a crime, specifically the suicide of his father.
I informed the young man that suicide was not a criminal offense and therefore not a crime as there was no way to get a conviction for such a thing therefore the police where not telling him the truth.
I suggested he get a lawyer to write a letter informing the police that he would by coming to pick up his inherited property on such and such a date, he did and his dads firearms were turned over to him without any further fuss.
Sorry to see you go Klunk, I am also sorry you felt this was the only way out. For Gods sake guys, talk to your friends, make sure they are alright.
