I was hoping to shoot a deer with my handgun this fall but never got the opportunity. I had a moose licence so usually had my rifle in hand but a few times I sat in a spot where I might get a close shot at a deer so I had my rossi ranch hand in my mitts and my rifle leaning close by if I needed a longer shot.

I chased grouse with a CO2 .22 cal pistol and finally shot one with it.

hope you are just trolling.... Rossi Ranch is however a non restricted rifle.. so i dont know if you are prefering as rossi or actual handgun...

Also on other hand......It is Illegal to Shoot anything with compressed gas.. Such as "Co2" 495fps or 1000fps. Compressed gas is not allowed for hunting any small games. read Synopsis please.

Note: Convictions for certain offences will result in the suspension of all recreational hunting licences for a period of 1 to 3 years, and may result in a suspension for as long as 5 or more years. This is in addition to the assessment of a fine, an order and/or imprisonment.

GENERAL

It is unlawful to
a pistol or revolver unless
– the person is a licenced trapper (holding a federal authorization) who is dispatching an animal caught in a trap, or
– it is an air powered pistol or revolver that discharges a projectile at less than 500 feet per second (often used for hunting small game).

You are a total idiot. Way to go , smart guy!!

I smell troll...............a rossi ranch hand is a non restricted rifle chambered in a pistol cartridge.

To the OP, if you like negetive attention and provincial and federal leo's riding your ass waiting to see you do something stupid....keep posting dumb stuff, the guys here on cgn love it...........keep digging holes dumb@!s

:HR:cant believe someone would really post these kind of thread without looking back to synopsis for actually checking if it is legal or not....

OP- are you just trolling for attention that you were trying to hunt with a RH- AKA, one of the world's worst hunting rifles?

Oh, and good job breaking the law killing that grouse..... then posting online about it.

\the first quote has him with the rossi short barrel and a rifle, the second by starpuss, last line, shows shooting the grouse legal with a co2 pistol in alberta

I had no idea there were so many guys on here that do not understand the laws. And you guys who are not from Alberta should look into Alberta's hunting regulations re the CO2 pellet gun. It was even posted on the thread and you did not get it.

My Rossi ranch hand is not a restricted weapon. The Feds do not care if I carry it and shoot it anywhere legal. Alberta F&W don't have any legislation prohibiting it. And it is a handgun.

What is the problem?

It is NOT a handgun, in Canada despite what the box says.

And no, I did not know the "co2 hunting" regs, nor do I have any interest in using one. "Most people" wouldn't consider <500fps 10gr projectile as a "hunting arm". What ever floats your boat, I guess.

Can you hunt with a black powder mortar? What about a flamethrower? Does a nail-gun qualify? Sling shot and lawn darts?

Lol, some people crack me up, do they ask what the specials are three times when they eat out?

The Rossi ranch hand is a handgun like my Skorpion is a rifle: on paper only. But technically it is, despite that, you are so trolling for outrage, I should know. ;)

What page does it say compressed gas rifles are not allowed?

The main problem as I see it is that you referred to your Ranch Hand as a handgun. It is not legally a handgun or it would be restricted and you wouldn't be able to hunt with it in Canada. As far as using a Ranch Hand to hunt, go ahead, sounds like fun.

Same goes with grouse and a pellet gun. As long as it is under 500 fps, a 22 pellet is normally around 14 grains, can easily take small game withing reasonable range and is not considered a firearm. Just check your provincial regulations.

Better do it quick, don't wait till Justin and the FedLibs get in, then it will go from non-restricted to a prohib.
