Are you sure?
The Canadian government pays $120 for this.
Not even exaggerating.

Now that you mention it, yeah perhaps the gov is just as foolish as others, then again, they're playing with our tax dollars so they don't care. If you are indeed correct, then CC doesn't need to mark up the civvie guns so much, as their contract rifles are clearly paying the bills and then some.
Why the comparison between the US Colts and the Canadian ones?
IF they're not the same, they shouldn't be priced the same.
IF they are the same, then those complaining about that fact should also complain about the price of Glocks and Sigs and S&W up here vs the US. Same gun should be similar priced, if I'm understanding some of the arguments here.
I bought a SA20 and very much like it. I could have bought a DD or a KAC or a Noveske too, but since functionally they are all pretty much similar to each other, I went with CC because I WANTED TO. The difference in money from what I wanted to pay to what I did pay comes out to a few dollars per year that I plan to own this and then pass it on to my son.
This, and other reasons, are my own. Value is in the eye of the beholder, not something that can be empirically arrived at, let alone debated.
No one has yet explained just what makes a CC rifle different from any other MIL SPEC rifle from Colt USA or anyone else of reputable standing. No one is saying don't buy one, some of us are simply saying that comparing the CC rifle to a similarly spec'd rifle from another brand or even the same brand(Colt USA) , the cost difference is not substantiated.
To the other comment in your post about complaining about the cost of Glock's SIG's etc when compared to the US prices. Yes! Same problem but less option as only Glock make Glock's and only SIG make SIG's. When Questar opened its doors the prices of both pistols plummeted overnight, I wonder why?? Same thing happened with NORC AR's when IRG announced DPMS rifles for $650. Its amazing how the price of goods changes when you don't have a strangle hold on the market..
