I guess I like strange or wierd guns, I just completed refininishg the wood on a Swedish Husqvarna Mod 17 shotgun, rebounding external hammers, totally metal forend which is a pivioting lever to allow release of barrels to break for loading.

I also have a Charlin 16ga, made sometimes between the big wars, and a little 28 ga Darne made in the early 1970's. Both of these are French sliding breech models. The Charlin while not as strong as the Darne due to lock up differences is the smoothest best fitting action I have seen in a shotgun. The breech slids on hidden spring loaded ball bearings, and external engraving matches up perfectly at the instant of lock up.

yeah!!! Stop teasing us, send us the Darne pictures, the 28 ga....don't just talk about it, we have wants and desires too!!

While we're waiting for jkingrph I thought I should post another French gun to tide you guys over. This is a 20 gauge Ideal made in 1898 by Manufacture Francaise d'Arme et Cycles de St. Ettiene. Quite a mouth full but they changed the name later to Manufrance. A nice handling gun with swamped rib and unusually long for the gauge 30" fluid steel barrels. Even with the longer than standard barrels it still weighs 5 lbs 13 oz. Not really a late season grouse gun. I wouldn't be able to get gloved fingers in those "eye glass" trigger guards. She needs a bit of cosmetic work, but it locks up like a bank vault. Sorry for the lousy pictures.
