So have everyone start with an empty pistol. One hand on the holstered pistol and the other hand on the holstered magazine. At the sound of the buzzer they draw their weapon, insert the magazine, work the slide (if necessary), and start shooting. While loading and racking, the pistol's muzzle has to remain downrange and there is still no reloading or clearing of jams allowed?
Do we have age brackets for competition (ie: age 10 - 14 , 14-17, and 18+)? Do we set a minimum age? Do we restrict it to open sights only or allow any sight to be used? Do we setup a separate revolver classification?
Another option would be to stick to the DA requirements and just start off by buying a club gun for competition use. Local competitor's could use the club pistol (for example: a Walther P-22) or they could choose to use their own approved make/model. I'm thinking the club pistol would be paid for by proceeds from the "Sporting Pistol Challenge Badge" course. This would make it cheaper and easier to get new people involved.
