Can Dillon presses still be found to purchase new at any retailers in Ontario OR are we still where we were during covid with nothing being available? I've been contemplating the idea of getting a new press but the selection isn't plentiful especially with Dillon. It's even slim pickings in the used market for Dillon .

I am sure the Dillon line is a bad ass quality press, but useless if you can't buy it.
Almost two years ago I wanted to start reloading 9mm and I was looking around. Everyone said spend the extra $$$ and get a Dillon. Okay. But none were to be found, even to this day I'm told some parts are 1.5 years backordered. If you find the press, you can't get the dies, if you find dies, shell holder is not available, etc.

I gave up and bought a brand new Hornady Progressive AP with all the bells and whistles. Why? Because they were available in stores! Hornady secured their supply chains to ensure they keep up. The press works amazing and I am very pleased with it, it's no Dillon though. I will reconsider when Dillon decides to actually meet the demand and secure a decent supply chain. Assuming they are a few years away. Good engineering and design, bad executive leadership.

I hear ya. I was told pretty much the same thing by a few different places. I do have Lee dies for three different calibers so that wouldn't be the biggest issue. I also have to consider where we will be in the very near future if the liberal government remains in power. Shelling out that much money only to find out it's useless if they take all the guns away is a hard pill to swallow. I guess it's a chance I'd have to take.

Never ever had an issue with press parts, supplies, conversion its or dies from Dillon. I have been ordering regularly including thru the pandemic. The only issue I encountered was a 3 week wait for .32acp kit which they notified me of and asked if I wanted to hold the entire order till then or ship. Their service is top notch and NO ONE will give you better after sales service than Dillon should you encounter any issues.

I bought a used Dillon 550c at the beginning of the COVID stupidity. Came with multiple heads and conversions with a couple of small pieces missing. I contacted Dillon to buy the parts and they told me there wouldn’t be any charge for parts or shipping so they are well recommended by me. Press works very well and am completely happy with it. I have since bought other accessories for it used from locals. ####### and word of mouth have been kind to me. Currently a 550 on NS GP so they are available used. I only have one set of Dillon dies, various brands of I have setup in the heads ready for swapping out when needed.
Ordering from Dillon I find is usually about a two trip to my door. Last time I ordered they informed me if I had any warranty issues they would be charging shipping to Canada but no charge on warranty parts. I haven’t run into any accessories I ordered from them being out of stock so could just be what I ordered.

Dillon presses and Dillon service are fantastic.
I'm not sure what inventory looks like in Canada but I did find 550's in stock in the U.S. so they're stocking stuff. I'm sure Dillon would ship a press to Canada.

To do it all over again though, I think I'd go 650 instead of 550. The 550 has been great and continues to serve me well. But my occasional hankering for an upgrade to a 650 with a casefeeder is hampered by being setup with multiple 550 tooheads and conversions for different calibers. Hard to switch now when I'd need to replace everything.

I didn't think they made the 650 anymore and it was replaced by the 750? Perhaps the 750 is a 650 but with improvements.

750 is a 650 press with a 550 primer feed system not sure if its a "betterment" ...didnt have any problems with my 550 and my 650 is somewhere close to 200,000 rounds thru the primer feed and I've had to change the activation paul once in that time( the "hooky leg thingy" wore off).

Pro-line Sports in Calgary had 2 used 650's and a used 550 in stock as of two weeks ago so maybe give Brian a shout there.

Ellwood has a few 550 and 750 in stock. Unless you consider buying from them a total haram:

If you are looking for a case feeder Dillon makes a case feeder for the 550. I have one on mine and it works well, the only problem I can think of is if you do 223 or other rifle reloading I don't think you can use the case feeder for them.
