Okay, here's the deal, I'm a Police Constable hopeful, I have my Restricted PAL to help me prepare for Alymer (still going through the hiring process with a Police Service here in Hamilton) and, as a back-up if I don't get hired with them I'm looking at sticking with what I do (Child and Youth Worker) as well as starting part-time with Brinks.

I'm shooting a G22 .40 S&W Typically I use American Eagle by Federal, 180 grain but I shot these with 185 grain and noticed considerably less recoil and generally shot 25% better!

ALL of the following targets were shot at 10 metres. The shots fired with laser are the internal laser that replaces the recoil spring, the lasermax LMP-1141P. The sights on my Glock are the trijicon night sights.

First up: Slow Fire, Isoceles, No Targetting Laser Used:

Next: Rapid Fire, Isoceles, No Targetting Laser Used:

Now: Rapid Fire, Weaver Stance with Lasermax On:

Dominant Hand: Rapid Fire, Right hand only single handed pistol firing technique, shoulder aligned directly with target so my head was turned to the right, No Targetting Laser:

Lastly: Rapid Fire, Right hand only single handed pistol firing, same position as previously mentioned, with Lasermax On:

Thats it, let me know what you think, give me some input, help me become a better shooter. I do shoot as far as 25 metres but I'm concentrating on getting my technique right first then advancing to greater distances, I want to build my confidence before making greater challenges.

HI
I have used the AM. EG. bullet but couldnt get a good grouping with them. I switched to winclean for an outing and got this. Slow fire and chasing the first round. Basically same distance. I say it was 10 yrd but my buddy says it was actually 10 meter ethier way close enough.

Looks good to me.

I find that I get excellent groupings when I put the target no further away than 1M from the end of the barrel and use a HUGE target.

Good luck, it's a long day. I was there from 9:30 a.m. to about 3:30 in the afternoon. If everything goes well they throw the Psych questions at you that same day. (Over 600 if I remember correctly).

So you passed the hardest part eh?????? The "tipeing" test. ;)

Good luck man.

Mike

You were in the process with Hamilton too? How long ago? You should private me so we can chat about our experiences, I could use an LFI study budy! Have you been hired or are you in the process with another service now?

The typing was a breeze for me, I felt bad for the guy who sat beside me as he wasn't comfortable with typing and there was me beside him typing 75 WPM.

In your rapid fire isoceles, it looks like your support hand (left) isn't in full contact with the pistol grip, or there's more right handed pressure than left. Handshake grip with the dominant hand, more than that with the other hand. Try it and you'll see the muzzle move left.

Thanks, I do feel my grip is weak, I hear a lot about monkey fisting etc. on Glocks but I have no idea what it's all about.

This link shows it pretty well, you see how his hand has to migrate around the right side so he can reach the trigger, the pistol is now out of alignment with hs forearm, and it will recoil into the base of his thumb, instead of the pocket of his hand. This will slow down follow up shots, and this affects the natural point that you want to be able to make with the firearm, where the forearms extend the sight line, making "rough aim" easier to accomplish. The bad news is that if you're joining a force that issues a Glock, that's what you'll get - good/bad or other. Practice, practice, practice and you'll develope your own work arounds for the situation and your shooting will benefit. Incidently, unless you're rich, you'll get much better, much quicker if you reload; it's almost impossible to shoot enough to truly master a firearm without reloading, but remember it's a Glock - don't feed it lead bullets.

PS. If there's a PPC club nearby check it out - duty pistol will allow you to develope skills and practise accurate shooting with your current gear. You'll probably make some good contacts too.
