Disgusting....or is it just me?

It is just appauling to hear the ethics of this hunter. 8 shots @ 400yrd and 4 missed! This indicates to me a few things 1) He was to lazy to move is fat ass closer for a better shot; 2) he spent very little time with his equipement; 3) shooting well beyond his ability (check the ####ing ego at the door, what a moron) a 400yrd shot is not practice by an average hunter, let alone a 200 yrd shot. So what if you site it in at 100yrd for 400yrds they are completely different shots!!!

I've passed on 150yrd shots (i practice, siting and shootng on 200yrd range target) on deer and game, because of condition, terrain, weather, things that might affect the performance of my gun, things have to be right for me, it's a clean kill on a well place shot or nothing. IMO.

Doing what we can to ensure a quick kill only comes after the safe discharge of our guns as absolute responsibilities. Stuff happens and shot are messed up some times (not counting shooting beyond your limit) but not dispatching the animal as quicky as possible was an act of cruelty.

and I was fealing bad about my deer that wouldn't die after taking a head shot and having its throat cut to the spine it continued to flop around for almost 2 min. But a second head shot would not have killed it any more dead.

but 50% hit rate from 400m on an elk, thats pis poor shooting and 25 min to die. Hell I would have finished it and been done gutting by that time.

ethics are a personal choice, so what hs did may seem ethically right to him but to us its outrageous. But that morals, the ethics of a group.

Morally what he did was wrong, when hunting it important to dispatch your chosen game with the minimum number of shots with the minimum amount of suffering.

now idealy that would be a head shot from close range, but that is not the shot offered so we mostly settle for one in the boiler room and a followup once the animal is down to back of the head if required.

25 minutes is disgusting and cruel at best. How the frick does a person think that is acceptable? IMO a hunter has the responsibility to make every kill as clean and quick as possible, and I'm sure that I am not alone on this. Please feel free to pass on my disgust to your acquaintance 280 ACKLEY. Unbelievable! Some peoples kids. :(
 
I don't understand why he would brag about such a thing. It seems he took obvious pleasure in watching the death throes of the beast and probably got some sort of kick knowing it was owing to him.

He is no man who can do that to an animal. Honestly I would feel inclined to report him had I witnessed it, right after hitting the swine in the jaw.

I simply cannot understand where pleasure can be derived from doing such a thing.

I hate hate ass holes like this on a personal ethical and spirtual level i practise druidic spirituality (prechristian irish religeon) and do not beleave in letting #######s like this live if you meet this ass hole do us a favor and have him dog and acidently shoot him cause grrrr

and nothing you said could be unfair to him for this social attrosity
 
Thats just sick, when i killed my wolf this year, i hit it really clean, but it just wouldn't die and i wasn't gonna wait the 5 minutes for it to die, so i gave it another finisher i figured kill it quick and screw it, my taxidermist can fix another hole
 
we had the same thing happen to us this year BUT we did the kill shot to the head after it flopped right infront of us for about 1 min..... i couldnt watch anymore as a large doe flopped around bleeding and making horrible noises...

one of the other guys said we shoulda just left it to DIE OUT... i was like why have it suffer ...i wouldnt wanna watch any animal do that for 1 mins i cant imagine for 25 mins
 
Lets see, 400 yards, I can hike at a faster pace 8000 yards a minute (about 7.3km/h) that means it would take me a total of 5 minutes to get up from where I would be standing, to get to the deer, and ether put a peice of lead into the deers head, or take out my knife. So then 25 minutes is too friggin long he is just LAZY! And too gutless to actually fallow through with the hunting! :mad:

I wouldn't take ANY shot even with a 50BMG at a animal farther then 200 yards though so I wouldnt get into that situation. :dancingbanana:

Guys like him give all hunters a bad name! :mad:

That is the difference between a hunter and someone who should not have a hunting license. The guy should be left to punching paper. When you shoot at an animal it is your responsibility to kill it quickly and humanely. If you are not able to do that then don't hunt.

Also what the hell kind of rifle was this guy using, and does he even practice at the range?

What an a$$hat...if someone bragged to me about letting an animal suffer for 25 min I would have Kicked them in the nutz. :mad:
 
He is probably one of those types that tortured animals as a child. If he can sit and watch something die and suffer for 25 min and it didn't bother him I think he should seek some professional help.
