Dishwasher m14 warning.

I am sorry but i had to laugh... im not normally one to laugh at someone misfortunes.

dude. i know it sucks, but it could of been worse......he could of put it in the mircowave :-/

haha!

in all seriousness, i hope it can be recovered. get it sand blasted, re coat it up. and try some new coat of paint or something. could be the start of something great. or the end of something that never began :(

good luck to him/her ( i say her because its only like a woman to put a gun in a dishwasher!) im not ###ist lol

Lets compare flashpoints, shall we?

Varsol, is 140 F

Naptha is 100 F

and Gasoline..... -40F

For comparison, Diesel is 143 F.

Naptha and Varsol (And Diesel as stated before) are relatively safe, because you are unlikely to be cleaning your firearms in an ambient temperature greater than 100 F, so vapor ignition is remote.

Unless you are working with gasoline as a solvent, below -40, it will remain highly explosive and therefore should not be used...

I'm guessing you never grew up on a farm. ;)

Lets put this one to rest. The poor guy that posted this thing was surely trying to make a few people laugh and it worked! The science behind the thing is not totally lost as , your best bet for cleaning out very corrosive loads is hot soapy water through the barrel. The dishwasher thing was surely a joke and, he must not of been too happy with his Norinco 305. A good way to screw it up. Made alot of people laugh and comment.
Next subject please.

Dude, this is the internet... And this is realy funny ####!
This should have been a sticky a long time ago :D

buy some bottles of this product called evapo rust. its sold at canadian tire for 10$ a litre. get a piece of pvc pipe plug one end. place the reciever inside and fill with evapo rust. let it sit overnight and you will never know it was this rusted. best of luck!

That sucks. It can be saved Strip the gun to its individual parts clean the rust of with an abrasive like sand paper or something and refinish with Dura Coat. Clean the chamber and bore really well and it will be good again. It will take some elbow grease but it can be saved.

Some light at the end of the tunnel for your friend. I have saved a few friends riffles that they did some bone head things to like that by doing this

Cheers
