Dispatching a Groundhog - What would you use?

Hey Symphony~use the .22 if you can get close. Plant one in the noodle and your groundhog problem is gone. However, do it very soon as they're nearing hibernation time. After yesterday's groundhog hunt for me, I have a hunch some already are. If you can't peg the thing in next few days with the rifle, it's a spring deal...or something nasty sent down the hole. That is, if you're 100% sure you know which one it uses all the time.

On a side note, if firearm discharge was legal where I live or cottage, the neighbors would already be used to the sound of my .22s. :)

you would think this would work but with all the anti-pollution crap on cars these days it doesn't. my grandfather used to kill them back in the late 80's this way. he would catch them in a live trap (mostly skunks) and dispatch them by putting a hose on the truck exhaust. he told me one day that this was no longer working, so I advised him to use the lawn mower. back in business.

i assure you that cars still generate lots of CO and CO2. dont imagine for a moment you can work in a garage that's all sealed up with a new car running inside
 
started my groudhog day's with a 22. head shots ,none, survived, long range it was an obsession, 6mm, 243, 22.50 and a lot of other toy's to throw into the mix ,living inthe city .? solution no.1 ,22 bb.cap at 20 to 40 yds. out of a good bolt.gun almost no sound, less than 177. pellet rifle. one to the head works,. done , also work's on pesky coon's you have to hit the brain., no muss , no fuss , work's well. end note if you don't get along with your niebours,get the body quick .
 
Saltpeter and sugar mixed one to one melt together on hot plate out side. Then poor into paper tube, block the bottom then add hobby cannon wick let dry. After dry put it in to eneterence you can find a light it. Not need to run it just creates awesome piles of smoke!! Wait for him to come out. Then .177 1200 fps pellet gun! Works fin. Plus the smoke will come out all of the holes so you can find them! Lol.
 
the only way to be sure it to nuke it from orbit.....
