Distance shooters. What power optics?

You are right in some aspects. But u are also wrong. Mirage and a narrow field of view are a snipers nightmare. Its all good for a static range when tgts don't move. 8-10 real life tgts are not stationary and if u zoom in to max power and can't ambush properly you will miss guaranteed. Now take into consideration that we JUST received fine reticles. On max magnification with the old P4L the tgts would be completely blocked out by the friggin reticle. I don't need to be anywhere near max magnification because my spotter right beside me is on 25x making the calls anyway. I could never ever see myself needing more than 25x

Interesting line of work you have. As you say, 2 different applications. Having the option of extreme magnification is tremendous if the conditions prevail to benefit from it.

As much power as you can get, doesn't mean you have to use it.

Most of my scopes are 24x not because I only need 24x but because its generally in my price range and with the reticles I prefer.

One of my first scopes is a bushnell elite 4200 that is 32x and I do love that magnification on it. Unfortunately I've outgrown it's lack of features (target turrets, reticle, etc.) and its not on any of my rifles.
