WTF are you talking about? Are you just trolling? I've put cases of corrosive ammo through my XCR-l and everything still looks newish. It's called cleaning, give it a try, you might be surprised how a little effort it takes to keeps your toys in excellent condition. Look at forum member 9x19, he has over 10,000 rounds of corrosive ammo through his XCR and no, it has not turned into a block of rust either.

In the USA there are thousands of guys with incredibly expensive full autos, who shoot nothing but corrosive ammo, because that's all that's available in those cals.

They clean them... neutralise the corrosive salts. No problem no damage.

If they do that to their super rare registered full auto, some worth more than $50,000 USD... I think people will be safe with an XCR , Vz58 or SKS... just clean it properly for the salts.
 
WD40 I swear is the best protector from corrosive ammo. After I grease certain parts, I give the bolt and inside the receiver a nice mist of WD40 before use. I have not seen a spec of rust anywhere on my Vz yet.

But do you still wash down the barrel with water once you're done shooting?

Put the MAG Adapter on the SKS and you have Equal Fire Power.... Using XCR pistol mags. win , win, 20 rounds on Tap.

I own a new XCR-L 223 Keymod that I have coyote hunted with since this winter. I had a Bushmaster 11.5 Stateside.

I enjoy/enjoyed them both, but I like the XCR-L better except for the CDN price tag.

I shoot factory (I hate to say premium ammo but here's the list)from AE black box FMJ, Hornady 55 vmax and Fed red box 50 gr JHP.
While breaking it in I have always been on Gas setting #2, ran it wet and have had few issues with feeding/ejection and less as I approach 200 rnds.(likely from the lower gas setting)

With the Fed red box 50 Gr JHP I have shot 1 - 1 1/4, 3 shot groups prone off Harris bipod and rear bag with 1.75-5 Burris.

I also replaced a wood SKS stock with a synthetic for a friend 6-8 years ago and enjoyed shooting i while I had it.

Given the above, I don't see you being disappointed with a light barreled XCR-L and so far I have had no issues with loose equipment or anything. The loctite comments are likely from folks who have pulled their wank sock out from underneath their Spiderman mattress in mom's basement one too many times.

For hunting or plinking with x39, the cz527 is the most accurate rifle you can get. Very light, short and easily scopable, I get under 2" groups at 100y with surplus. Often get 1.25" at 100y with hornady sst or commercial sellier. Plus trigger is fantastic. My go to hunting rifle. Plus hardly has any recoil...
 
I think it depends on what you are hunting.... Deer?
If it is, you could get a real sweet m14 variant for less than an XCR. It's worth considering. Also the FAMAE in 308 that should be considered... also in the price range.
With a 308, you can go after moose, elk etc, if that's your bag.
I'm just kinda thinking that for XCR cash, you got more hunting options with a 308.

Having said all that, I can think of no finer modern 7.62x39 than the XCR that is not restricted.

The SKS does a great job for a $200 rifle, but I won't hunt with it & sort-of getting tired of the Iron sights. I put a POSP scope on mine and it's 'OK' but not really something to get serious target shooting with.

I already have hunting rifles - don't need an XCR for the bush (but I like the non-restricted angle of it). Is the XCR-L WORTH the $$ money $$ ? I have heard good things about the XCR-L but it seems the rifles are always being sold on the equipment exchange - is that because people don't like them much or they're too heavy ? Or maybe the people that buy them are the "Oh Look a New Toy!!" crowd that buy-sell-buy something different ?

So - ditch the SKS and spend $$$$ or just stick with the plinker for the Cheap cost ? Does anyone have an XCR that they just LOVE ?.... TELL ME !!

If you plan on shooting mainly at the range anyway I would try out the AR platform, more reliable then the XCR and lighter, very accurate, and the most ergonomic rifle around, not to mention most modular. And a lot cheaper.
 
cz makes a real nice bolt gun that will shoot that ammo. I don't think an xcr will give you thousands more worth of pleasure than the sks. I can take you to countries where guys will pay you more for an sks than an XCR, the price is really a relative yard stick. Both shoot the ammo just fine. if you want accuracy that CZ bolt is a mighty fine rifle. I forget the number 527 carbine maybe?

ditch the sks, and either go vz 58 or xcr-L in 7.62 x 39
 
NO WAY!!!!! keep the sks it has that old school commi charm. what your going to put that XCR next to your VC farming hat? Notcool that modern stuff is lame.
