OK then, it's a reddish gel stain. It fits most of the Vintorezes I have seen. The foregrip, compared to this, will be a snap. I have already made wooden foregrips from scrap, so no problem.
OK, I tried a Varathane gel stain in red. I thought this would match the red forestock if need be. You can see how the cheek riser actually can rise and tilt to a small agree.
Sweet!
Now just apply some Tung Oil to get that shine out or if you have a spray machine try using Varethane Extior Satain Sheen it's got a diamond on the side of the can. Then sell it to me!

Thanks, all. The buttpad was a bit of an afterthought. I made the stock and then decided to use an SKS rubber pad because I found one cheap. I am not sure how I'd shape the pad, or if it is even worth the effort. I will think of some sealant though.
That's a good idea. Where do I get one? I might as well give it a try before I seal it. So, Satain, out of curiosity, what's stopping you from making one?

Got to many project's on the go. Got a bolt action build and another milsurp build plus I am just in the process of wraping up my sks build. Always wanted to do this with my CZ but I went a different more "tactical" route. Although there is nothing nicer than the look of nicely finished wood on a metal rifle in my point of view.
Alright.... i'm starting to look for vz858.... and some grate wood.... hopefully by Christmas i'll have one more contestant .... for this line up...
So as far as i understood... the foregrip and the gastube cover...i dont have to fabricate...?
just strip the old ones and try to match with the stock by applying the stain... ???
Too bad i cant start making the stock... untill i get the VZ...that might take a while...
There are many options for foregrips now, but they are not really wood...unless you buy wooden furniture. You can make them, as I have, if you must. So, no, stripping the regular furniture won't do. Funny thing is, I made my wooden cheek piece and then painted to look like the regular furniture. Odd, I suppose.
Experimental 'teardrop' foregrip painted like regular furniture. I also made a Romanian type foregrip. Oak extended grip:
