I went to install Trijicon HDs on my Walther P99 and discovered it required a specialized tool. This is because of the tight quarters within the slide and the very thin 3/16" nut used for these sights.

I couldn't find this info anywhere so I'm sharing what I ended up using:

Just a standard multi-driver. Had to file the length of the shaft down some to get rid of the taper. Once the hex shape was exposed at the tip, the fit was perfect. Of course it still functions fine as a multi-driver.

I'm not sure if it will fit in the glock slide, but I think it probably will. Worked great on my Walther. I understand they use the same screw. Hope this helps someone.

That must be the slim/mini size picquick screwdriver. Standard multi-bit drivers are 1/4". I bought a Wiha Tools "Precision Nut Driver 3/16 X 60mm" from Acklands I think for $6-7 and it's a much nicer tool than the $20 "front sight tools" I have seen. Sorry, I don't mean to trample on your post about finding something you already had to do the trick, just a heads up that the standard multi drivers don't work..

Hmm it looks like you're right. It's the Picquic Multique which uses 3/16 bits. Should still be a lot easier to find than the Wiha or putting a socket on a lathe!

Made mine by turning down a cheap Mastercraft socket. Stuffed some of that FunTak mounting putty stuff down the hole in the socket to keep the little nut from falling out/in:
