Dlask custom Canadian legal bullpup

I like the m14 action. The only difference I'd like to see is for the charging handle to be on the left side of the gun.

I can agree as long as it's non-reciprocating. I like my teeth as they currently are ;).

Where that charging handle currently is combined with reciprocation on the left side, might reconstruct come facial features .

We have not decided what we want to do yet. With so many people "running guns" into the country from the USA we are thinking it is not worth 6 figures and 18 months of development (9 months at the RCMP FRT lab you know !!!) that we probably would not sell allot of anyway because people would say its too much money......so we are still deciding.

LOL
You realy seem to take issue with these guys

Yup.....I do. I don't like it when Americans seem to take our NAFTA agreement and have it only go "one way" when it suits them. This happens with guns, wood, oil and lots of other products......You folks have no idea what an ordeal it is to get OUR GUN PARTS and GUNS into the USA. Its a real pain in the ass........

I am not surprised to hear that.
The Yanks can be very protectionist.

How will the type 97 imports (maybe?) affect your bullpup decision?

The type 97 wont because its chinese junk just like the m14 and the AR. Yeah yeah...I know.....works great blah blah blah......well come the range and use a real AR or real springfield M1 and tell me your chinese junk is great.

So......its more about the fact that there is really good stuff coming available at good prices and EASILY into Canada. So....for the 500 or so rifles we would sell....it would just not be worth 18 months of time when we could be doing other things.........like making zillions of parts that are easily sold all day long.

Well then shouldn't your beef be with the US Gov ?
Not with an American based company that is able & willing to supply Canadian consumers with the product they want at a reasonable price .

This is the juggernaut rogue, is it not?
That bullpup is also the only reason I am trying to get my hands on a norinco m305 shorty. The price (american) seems to be $999. Which is definitley pricey for me but for that beauty...Ill put in some overtime at work!!
Please make this non-restricted/available here in Canada

Remember that when your job is "relocated" outside of Canada.

That falls on deaf ears here... many CGN'rs have shown over and over again that they don't care where something comes from or who benefits (or even what quality) as long as it is cheap for them to buy... regardless if it means their neighbour closes shop.

A little late for that. A job I enjoyed moved to Portland Oregon in 1992 then the people in Portland that enjoyed doing my former job lost their job when it moved to Mexico in 2008 . Like it or not this is the world we live in . If you can't compete you fail

Nice sentiment & wile I generally agree with it we don't live in the 20th century anymore & people don't care

Something our Fed Gov should actually be doing is making sure that imports that come in are properly tarriffed when they come from China/Mexico/etc, so that we stay competitive... how exactly does a company here stay competitive when they have "living" wage, environmental protection, municipal tax, etc commitments in this country that is not there in others... not to mention maybe we shouldn't be dealing with countries that don't have the basic human rights issues down pat yet.

I dont understand why that would be prohib... unless there is a trigger mech fixed to receiver that come out with it or something. As I recall, the M14 trigger mech can't be attached to the rifle without the stock.

The only reason those kits are prohib is because some of them allow the firearm to function outside the stock at less than 26", right?

This is disappointing to hear Dlask.

While I agree somewhat with your realistic outlook, I think you would sell more than 500 bullpup rifles.

I would guess price would be an issue, I mean you would be putting in a lot of work to make this happen. And hell, of course you should make a few bucks off of it!

I would think if you could keep it at $2000 a unit or less you would have a winner.

I still think you should give it a go and see what happens.

Just my 2c

just to give people an idea how small the Canadian firearm market is, back in the mid 90's right after the Clinton Administration ban the importation of Chinese made M14 there were approximately 5000 receiver forgings left at the factory warehouse, all the cheap M14s and M305 we having been enjoying all these years are made from those forgings, so for anyone to recoup their development cost of a new products they have to sell a lot in a short time or sell it outside of Canada before they will see a dime of profit.
