Dlask custom Canadian legal bullpup

Without a doubt it's lethal. I have taken deer with my sks in the past. But when I went on my yearly moose hunting trip in northern BC where I had to drive a thousand kilometers then boat in 4 hours I took a $5k custom rig chambered in 308win and another backup rifle prettymuch the same. What I'm saying is the soviet round can kill, but it's not a choice round. You don't see average joe gun enthusiast choosing 7.62x39 over all the other conventional rounds. I did as kind of a lethality test to see for myself. But I had to order special soft points off the Internet to be able to do so. I just couldn't go to the store. Nor could I reload some as prettymuch all their surplus is steel case berdan primed.

308win has significantly more utility to the Canadian shooter. Yes I have and do hunt with 7.62x39. But their all truck hunts 20min from home on animals purely meant for sustenance. As what I believe I am the average gun nut, if I had to drive over an hour to my hunting grounds, or thought I had a chance at an impressive bull/buc whatever. I would instinctively grab a 308 or bigger. See what I'm saying? Yea the soviet round is capable of killing without a doubt. But for Canadians it IS a toy round. 99% of the time it's used for having fun "shootin stuff" in the backwoods. And if a guy is going out to bag a big ole swamp donkey, 7.62x39 won't be the first idea unless he's one of the few red rifle guys.

Besides this gun is probably going to end up being around 3k of they ever decide to make it. No way am I going to spend 3k on a gun that fires an 8 cent round. If your gonna built a strong reliable semi, to have the most market viability and utility for the Canadian gun market. It should be a 308.

XCR chambered in 7.62 x 39. 200 yard shot with "off the shelf" hollowpoints. 1 round. What most people do not understand that while caliber is important it is no where near as important as a correctly placed shot. I have killed quite a few moose with my 243 with 1 round. A .22 round with perfect shot placement is a lot more lethal than a 50 BMG that you miss the target with.

I like the idea of an all metal Canadian made mass centralized (friendly name for bullpup) carbine. I have a couple of Dlask pieces and his work is excellent. If I had my choice, I'd prefer an SKS drop in receiver kit - similar to the DAR22 idea. The receiver would be integrated into the stock to meet our legislation, and the end user would assemble the rest - perhaps gas system, bolt group and barrel. The 223 market is well represented with a number of MC rifles, and the RFB is an excellent choice in 308. Nothing that I am aware of in Canada in 7.62x39, so it may be a very lucrative niche if it can be pulled off. I've "napkin sketched" a few designs, and have discussed the idea with a very good gunsmith.- the concept is certainly viable.

+1 7.62 x39 ftw!

+1 000 000

SKS bullpup FTW.

Obviously photoshopped. Everyone on the internet knows that you need a 20mm round minimum for anything larger than a squirrel. ;)
(PS. Nice shooting!)

I would purchase one in a heartbeat.... As long as the kit was priced fairly and it was non restricted......i bought the EBR stock and converted one of my m14s and found it uncomfortable to use the rifle after that .... so anything that is produced must be thought out good!

I guess this topic has been long discussed, but I thought I would just add this little bit. a .223 would not be a great sell, since the Type97A is coming, and I doubt Dlask would be able to beat the price on those puppies. Most people will just be buying and customizing those. IF the price is less than an RFB, then .308 is a great option... however, I think a 7.62X39 would be fantastic. It has enough range and power to be effective hunting, it is cheap to shoot at the range, it is a proven cartridge, available readily, and people seem to have supplies of it kicking around their houses anyway (to feed SKS', cz' etc).

SO like suggested, why not an SKS based bullpup? (or vz58, or whatever other reliable/non-clumsy action can be modded and chambered or 7.62X39). I think the m14 action may be a bad idea, as it really isn't designed to be a bullpup, and I would think with the Op rod operation (the way it moves) and the overall weight of that receiver etc... not the great. BUT I am no engineer.

Just tossing in an opinion.
