Dlask lowers

I also love my Dlask. Like Shooster I have owned a Bushy and a Colt and I have sold them both and kept the Dlask. I only use USGI mags in it and have never had a problem.

My Dlask lower is superb...too bad they blew it with their customer 'service'.

They do have a poor customer relationship, but their product is great. He just should not let that lady take his orders when he goes away!!If you know what I mean!!

The laser engraving was old stock. The new is done by CNC deep engraving. The reason for the irregularities concerning the takedown pins is in the annodizing. The hole are drilled/reamed before they are sent out. They've been told of the problem and should be corrected in the next batch, as well as the mag problem.

I have one of the CGN lowers, I didn't notice the holes being any tighter than any of my other lowers and I have at least one of each from ABCD. I don't own any plastic mags so I don't know about that issue.
I'd definitely buy another from them.

I read the first part of this forum and still decided to go with DLASK after talking to Joe. He impressed me as a good person to deal with.

I asked for a free floated bull barrel w picatinny rail and a good trigger, he put in an RRA 2 stage trigger. I was hoping for the white letters but the gray lettering was okay with me. BUT, lo and behold, I got the white letters on it.

I remembered building a 1:1 XM 177 model years ago in a country far far away and I had to put white letters over it. It looked better for me. At the tac rifle match today, I can immediately spot the DLASK lowers and there was a few. They do stand out.

When I picked up the rifle, I brought both my 30/5 mags as I told him I've heard about the tight fit for mags. He put both in and they dropped free. He did mention that he had his first runs with the mag problem but that has been fixed.

As far as accuracy, I brought it out this thursday and zeroed it at 25 yards. It shoots very very well. I could probably do a half inch group if my hands were not shaking/trembling. As it is, I had about .75 to an inch grouping on it. I fired about 7 shots with all shots on the bullseye.

I handed it to one of the members at POCO as he was interested and I think I helped DLASK sell another DAR701.

I'm glad I went w Dlask. I might get another one built but this time in 11.5" or maximum of 14" for Tac Rifle.

I would suggest in any decision making when it comes to large sums of money,I would go directly to the source and ask for exactly what you will be getting for your money.Talked with Joe on a few issues and I found him to be quite knowledgable in the field of AR's.

Cheers,
Rob

FWIW, Epps now has the DPMS stripped lowers for $228. Ordered one last week ;)

Explain to me again why I should buy a DAR with questionable QA/QC for $50 more? Seems to me maybe half the owners have problems. Seems like a big risk... especially compared to a cheaper known quantity like Eagle Arms/Armalite or DPMS

Claven, is your lower DPMS a fordged or cast lower? If it is fordged, is it made of 6061 or 7075? Dlasks are made from 7075, as are all real mil spec lowers. 7075 is twice as strong as 6061, DPMS sells lowers made from both. Be sure you are comparing apples to apples.

buckbrush: DPMS have not made a cast lower for more than 5 years. Also, ALL current DPMS lowers are 7075.

The Lowers at Epps are brand new current production. 'Nuff said. They also had Bushy lowers for around $30 more than the DPMS ones but they told me over the phone the DPMS ones are a better buy if you don't care about the bushy name.

By the way, you can tell the cast receivers bu the lettering. The lettering is raiser and part of the castng. the forged lowers all have engraved or roll stamped markings ;)

PS: DLASK lowers are NOT milspec. Not even close. Milspec lowers take thermold mags and are given class 3 anodized finishes (not class 2 like DLASK) and are all MPC tested. If the DLASK lowers were milspec they;d cost twice what they do ;)

Also, no receiver with overly tight pin tolerances would be accepted by any military...

Claven, what I wrote is that 7075 is the alloy that is mil spec for lowers. The catalog I have from DPMS has 6061 lowers in it, but I am not sure how old it is. I believe it is from last years S.H.O.T. show, but I am not sure.

Well either way it looks liek a moot point. I got concerned and called Epps to check on my order and they told me that they just found out from The Shooting Edge that the DPMS order that was promised to be in next week won't be in for at least another month, possibly longer.

Last time I played this game, it was over a year before I got my my order...

Guess I'm gonna have to keep shopping - anyone know who has stripped lowers in stock and ready to ship BESIDES Dlask?

Called Wolverine too. Eagle Arms lowers won;t be in country for 3 more weeks, then add another 3 before they're ready to transfer and ship.

I want a lower sooner than that, unfortunately.
