Dlask non-restricted ACR Barrel

image_zps57b79daa.jpg

Its new look.

Spectacular. All you need are KAC BUIS now!

Arma-coat.ca?

Who (if anyone) does nitride bore coating in Alberta? How much do they charge?

the thing (for me) is shipping my whole ACR back and forth to Dlask, than to someone that can reprofile it, than to arma-coat to have it nitrided is gonna end up costing way too much...

Good point, I'm thinking that those Herron arms guys, got the perfect, custom to ones needs barrel. I'm still not done with mine, likely nitrate and reparkerizing it, shipping it adds up.

Good news, just got back from the range and the thinned Dlask barrel likes PMC 62gr green tips .. I can average 1.75 MOA or better once the rifle is finally broken in. Didn't get good results with the norinco 55's though, fte and 3+ groups. Good plinker ammo I guess but that's what it is unless I put everything in a vise.

I believe arma coat can do nitrate.

Buy quality optics and you don't need BUIS. When was the last time you had your optics "go down"?
The stock magpul ones are good enough for the just in case your in combat with your ACR at the range or in the bush and your optic gets damaged. Why spend a couple hundred dollars on BUIS that are just there for looks.

So anybody knows when the next Dlask 18.5" batch will be ready?
I am growing very fond of my ACR and it is still restricted imagine ;)
Can't wait to have that Dlask/Magpul/Remington* duo both NR

You should be able to pick it up as soon as CSC has it back from Dlask, just treat it as restricted until the CFO says it's off the registry.
Mine was only with the verifier a few days then I had it back, I just called the CFO every week till the lady had a hard time figuring out what I was talking about, she said all that was left was a note that it had been reclassed and there was no registration anymore.
removing a rifle from the registry is much faster for a firearms business than one owned by a private person.

It's the exact same process.

-You and the verifier fill in the one page form and he looks up an already existing FRT number from the database (for their barrel). If you have the business buy the restricted and convert it to non restricted before you buy it then the business can do all the work themselves without needing any info from you until the actual purchase.
-The verifier sends in the form and waits for the CFO to stamp it and remove the serial number from the restricted database.

The reason it takes longer for individuals is because the CFO doesn't call you to tell you it's done, you need to call every day until they can't find your rifle in the database anymore. There is still a note in the system though which says the rifle with your serial number has been converted and removed from restricted status.

why post if you agree it is quicker through a business?

I'm not agreeing, read the very first line of my post. Does that sound like I agree that it is quicker one way or the other? I'm saying it's the same either way you do it except one way you have a little bit to do with it and the other only the barrel manufacturer/verifier does. Mine was done in a week or two but I didn't find out it was done for around 3 weeks because no one mentioned that I had to call in to find out for myself. My rifle was only out of my hands for a couple days and I was back using it as a restricted until I had verification from the CFO that it was complete.

Why isnt any business bringing in acrs and selling them with the conversion?

Because Bushmaster doesn't make them.
You can buy them with a Dlask barrel and non restricted straight from Calgary Shooting Center but I think you need to order it, they don't just stock them. People have been asking when the next batch of Dlask barrels are coming so they may also be hard to find right now.
From what I hear Herron Arms will also order a rifle for you and convert it then ship it to you. Most places are going to want the $3000+ up front though.

Just got a reply from Dlask saying 3-4 weeks for the barrels...
Mind you I got the same answer last time I asked so I don't know what that means really.
I also asked about 300blk and was told "that is in the works" so basically, we'll see Dlask 223rem and 300blk 18.5" eventually, but ETA isn't that clear... I'll try to be patient, at this point they are still the only reasonably priced option IMHO.

I can get you a 300BLK barrel. You will need a gas system for it though and will need to shorten the op rod to work with a carbine length system.
Mine worked great till I bent the op rod. I shouldn't have re-profiled it the way I did, was my fault it ended up bending. My replacement should be here soon and I'll spend more time doing it right and it should be perfect when done.

I'll start by a .223, than .300blk...
Hopefully eventually a 7.62 AK lower but that's giving a lot of hope to Bushmaster and they dropped the ball pretty bad with the ACR so far.

Hopefully by the time you're ready I'll have all the kinks worked out and be able to supply some directions to modify the gas system easily.
I'm not waiting for Bushmaster to come out with anything. The platform is great and reliable and the quick change system is good. Parts can be gotten if you are willing to wait for a while so having a custom barrel built is easy and cheaper than Bushmaster will create them for.

Herron is doing a 7.62x39 conversion currently and I am considering it as well since there is nobody else stepping up to do these things any quicker or cheaper. The .311 barrel blank is hard to find.
