That's what you get with a barrel configuration like the AKS 74U...

IMO you already started with that config. All you need is a AKMSU-style muzzle break and it will look like a krinkov.

I sent a restricted VZ 58 to the guys at DLASK and had them work their magic. They re-barreled it with a new Lothar Walther barrel, re-registered it with the new barrel length, and shipped it back. I couldn't be happier with the job that Josef and his crew did on it.

Does that new Lothar Walther barrel come chrome lined?

Forward grip, I needz one.

I don't think a vert grip is practical, due to the way the mags are inserted. The Magpul AFG is ugly, and the knights one is stupidly expensive. Any other options?

Actually, the left side rail on the Fab defense works OK if you #### your support hand thumb around it, but I'd like something more substantial...

I suggest this forgrip>>>>>>> http://www.zahal.org/products/tacticl-folding-grip?path_parent=219003
Personally though I dont find a standard forgrip interfers much with the mag loading, but I can see where you are coming from.

^^^thanks for that, I really like the Cadex hand-stop though. I realize it's supposed to be used to stop your hand from going too far forward on the rifle.

But....it's small enough not interfere with mag changes but still gives plenty of surface to index your support hand and pull the rifle into your shoulder. Shoulder transitions are easy with it as well.

I havnt had the money to get railed hanguards for my cz yet, but i did buy a fab pistol grip. So i took the old pistol grip and fashioned it seemlessly to the orginal with some resin, bolts and painted it. I shortened it a lil bit and angled it rearwards. Wen i load a mag if i ride it along the grip a lil bit it load beautifully every time. Not sure how this would work under stressful conditions, but as is it is better than without. nice to have a lil rearward pressure without tensing the shooting hand. Plus its better LOP for my grip hand than using the magazine.

Do you have a pic?

I can imagine it is quite handy as you described.

Yes, it's very handy. It would make a perfect bush rifle if our overlords allowed it.

Well you asked for a picture and I tried my best. The good camera is charging presently so this aint the best picture of her. As you can see I am far from finished with this rifle. I have done what I can at present with the resources at my disposal. What do you think of the sling? Its braided para cord, with a nylon wrapped in leather fastener. I've taken off the front iron/bayo lug, so she looks a lil naked. The next additions are a nea railed barrel clamp, front and rear troy micro battle BUIS, and a heavy break. I have an arma coat session in store for this lil hussy but thats a while down the road. In the meantime I am scouring the EE for all the parts to finish the build. What do you think?

Just had it out today. Im getting rid of the akm brake, and replacing it with a heavy brake. I find the akm brake over compensates, and makes follow up shots more difficult. The grip worked great. Did a few gunfighter type reloads, and never had a problem with the grip being to close to the magazine. Im thinking that because the akm brake wasnt designed for the rifle or the round it forces the barrel down too much. I have herd good things about the heavy brake though. Just waiting for mine too show up in the mail. Do you find that the akm brake overcompensates with your rifle?

I found it was uncomfortable with the folding stock as it would cause the stock to slap my cheek. I'm going to try it again with the M4 stock to see how it feels. It's amazing how well it compensates for such a simple device, no? :D

I think the akm brake is perfect for the shorty barrel, and orginal stocks. Still waiting for my new muzzle brake. I have the inline stock adapter, I wonder if that is why the akm brake isnt spectacular for me. When I was using it with the original stock it was quite comfortable. I think the heavy brake with the inline stock is a much better match. Looking forward to my next shooting session probably monday or tuesday when the brake shows up. I will give you my report on the differnt brake.
