Do I really need a .375 H&H ?

Without ever having shot one, without being able to afford one, and with no real use for one. An with other guns that could do its job.
Yes
I want one for the same reason you do, because the cartridge falls to me, something about it just sounds, just feels right.

I felt the same way in the 1960s when I found my first 375 and have never been without one since...

Ok, I know "need" is a relative term and "want" is really all the justification anyone needs as long as you can afford the thing(s) you want.

I have always wanted a .375 H&H. There's just something about the cartridge that has always called to me. I have shot one several times, and witnessed how effective one can be on a moose...pretty much the definition of "bang - flop"! That being said, I've had the same results with my .338 WM every time.

I suppose I already have the bases covered for anything I'll ever hunt in N America (I don't hunt any bears) with a .223, 7mm RM, 30-06, .35 Rem and the .338 WM, but for some reason I still want a .375 H&H...am I being unreasonable?
I was at a gun store the other day and saw the most beautiful "real Mauser model 98", made in Germany, case hard coloured, beautiful wood, leaf sights and chambered in the 375 H&H.....................brand new, priced at 6,000.00.

And you let that stop you?:p
We have been married for 35 years, I do want it so last a little longer, however I do have a Cooper with bells and whistles that might be saying.........."trade me!" The gun is located at The Calgary Shooting Center and do they ever have beautiful firearms there.

I recognize your tactic...

Is that the tactic where you convince someone else to buy something before the temptation becomes too much to resist? I've used that one a few times.

In other news, I dropped a barrel off today to make my CZ .375 H&H into a .375 Weatherby and picked up the Alaskan I ordered from Cabelas.

Well, .375 H&H of course.;) After deciding to make one of my .375 H&Hs into a Weatherby I had to buy another one to restore order to the universe. Not only does everyone need a .375 H&H; if you're halfway serious you have to have a spare. What if something happened to one?

It would seem that in a few calibres, the 358NM for example, ;)I must be a subscriber to that line of reasoning:p. However, with the 375 H&H, I'm on the way to getting my 1st and we'll see how it goes from there. In the last couple of days I've just purchased my 1st 375 H&H and it should be here by the end of the week:D. A model 70 Winchester Super Express to keep my other Super Express in 458WM company.

Heaven help any Elephants that step onto Vancouver Island:p. Now,;)all I can hope for is a little luck on upcoming Loto 649 draws, then...................:)

That grizzly hide wasn't doing anything else, and I thought well ................nobody wants to see my table anyway?

Sometimes you're caught short on props and have to improvise with what little you have to work with. Take this picture of my only other remaining H&H, a custom shop 700. I couldn't just throw it on the ground, so just used whatever was handy.
