Do i really want a .40S W handgun??

Try a Glock 22, and then buy a 9 mm conversation kit. Best of both, if you like plastic.

Are the 17 and 22 same frame size and all? I was thinking about grabing a glock at some point and i must say its a pretty damn good idea you have here. Is it like the M&P40 where you just throw a 9mm barrel in it and call it a day?

They are the same frame size but you'll need an aftermarket conversion barrel like Lone Wolf or Storm Lake to work with the .40 extractor and ejector.

I didn't know I needed a 40 cal till SFRC put them on sale and I bought one. Norinco / Sig knockoff in 40 cal. Its a fun gun/ don't give a hoot & shoot gun.

40 is a fun caliber to shoot. I’m thinking about the g22 with the conversation kit. Ive put 200 rounds though a gen4 and it’s a hoot, wouldn’t want to shoot it everyday though.

10mm handgun are wayyyy too expensive there is no way its going to happen in the near future.

I could maybe wait and go with a Jericho in .40 at some point. These are not too expensive versus other and the steel frame should help with recoil of the round. Im just not a fan of the slide safety and frame safety jericho seems next to impossible to find in Canada.

I was not really taken with with slide mounted decocker either, however I did use my .40 Jericho for my PPC traing and qualification, and the decocker turned out to be a non issue. There is not a lot to grab on to on a Jericho slide, and I was grateful for the protruding safety leavers for something to grab on too. So far I have only shot 180 and 200 gr. loaded just under the max charge using HP38 home loads through it. I have to hold a high 12:00 to get them where I want them; when I get through the few thousand of these I have loaded, I am going to try some lighter bullets and see if I can adjust the point of impact a bit more. Right now, it is just pure fun and satisfaction!

Anybody got an idea of what a fair price would be to pay for a Gen 4 Glock 22? The idea to be able to switch caliber with simply a barrel really talk to me. hell i could even try .357 Sig for fun at some point with a G22

I’ve seen them in the Vancouver area around $750.00. The one place I was looking had one new for $800.00 and for $100.00 more, smithy would do the trigger as well.

I like my .40 Jericho 941 a lot. The heavy steel frame absorbs a lot of the recoil. Bulk ammo prices aren't bad when they go on sale

Hey guys,

Im debating with myself if i should get into .40S&W with a Norinco Np58. I have the 9mm Np22 that i do like to shoot a bit but im not a huge fan of the Sig P22X platform. I know its not a huge investment but i figure we dont have many reason here to shoot .40 over 9mm since well, added stopping power is sadly not a concern for us. I have both 9mm and .45ACP handgun and i must admit i really like shooting .45 more than 9 simply because recoil feel more like a strong push rather than a snapy fast round (and 1911 ergo fit me better but its not the question)

People who shot all three caliber how would .40 compare between 9 or 45? Is it worth it since it will only be used for plinking? Or does saving for a nicer quality 45 or 9 pistol make more sense?

And before anyone say to try it i have not met anyone yet at my local range who use .40 so as much as i would like its not really an option.

I did try a friend's 1911 in .40 and a Glock 22 as well. It was love at first shot. I cast and reload, so hardly ever buy factory rounds. Availability or cost of ammo was never an issue. I also load Berry's HP and Hybrid HPs over 7.5 grains Long Shot and this load gives 1,150 fps (almost 10mm velocity), 3-4 inch 5 shot groups, standing handheld at 15 meters. Same accuracy using home cast Lee Truncated single groove 180 grainers over 4.7 grains (IIRC) Titegroup (1,000 fps). My most accurate .40 cal is a Ruger P91 DA/SA Decocker, which has done 2 inch groups at 15 meters. My FNS 40's did the 3-4 inch groups. My P91 and FNS 40s have never had any Failures to Feed, Fire or Eject. I haven't tried my recently acquired Norinco NP40.

But anyways, I am very happy the .40 is falling out of favor with LEO and hobby shooters, so I'll keep snatching them up if the price is right.

I keep my eye out for them but i think id rather go with a G22 still. Over the last few months i bought and laid hands on way more handgun than when i made this post. Starting to find my preference and i prefer striker fired over DA/SA since out of the box they usually have shorter crisper reset and im all about them reset lol

Bonus with the Glock i can grab a conversion barrel that are pretty common and have both caliber in the same package.

I have owned all 3 pistols and only have the 40 now. I shoot the 180 gr ammo and prefer it to the lighter loads. I have the CZ SP-01 and the heavier weight of the pistol is nice to shoot, even weak side single hand.

If it were me I'd just go with a 10mm instead of a 40S&W. At least then you can load down your 10mm to perform like a 40 S&W or go all out.

Yes i dislike 9mm but i like .45 recoil. Thats why if you read well i ask how 40 compare to 9 and 45

Never shot or handled 40 i have no idea how it recoil

.40 has a snappier recoil than 9mm. If you don’t like the 9mm, the .40 will get old fast. I know what you mean about the .45. The problem is it’s almost 1.5x the price/ round of a 9mm.
