Hi,
Have a "long branch" #4 Mk 1*
dated 1950
1. 93L3
2. blued
3. don't know where to find this one
4. blued
5. blued
6. blued
the front sight protector seems to be parkerized
the butt plate is steel ( I was always wondering why some enfields have steel butts, and some, the majority have brass butt plates. Please enlighten me)
By the way this is a great shooter, even with lead bullets.
bought it 20 years ago in Montreal for $75, hope I didn't pay to much...

British Enfields had brass buttplates, never seen one on a Canadian rifle unless the Brits put it there...
I think we can safely say you got a good deal...;)

Great thread. Odd little aside though. I don't have an LB, I have a very nice 1954 F (irish) and she's blued, not parked, why did the people at LB switch before the others?

That number range is very late 1950 if not 1951, it almost has to be parkerized. Please compare it to a rifle with actual blue bluing, it should have a greenish tinge.

I've seen earlier LBs that were parked when rebuilt. They were quite definitely greenish. This rifle is blue/black in colour. Full serial is 96L00XX. Very early in the 96L series.

Of the photos previously shown, I can say it is not at all the colour or texture of the 1955 receiver from the Euroarms site. The other pics shown of the parked & blued receivers are too indistinct for me to discern between.

While the finish is not in the same polish as the sight, front band or handguard ferrule, it's about the same colour.

Is it parked? Is it blued?

I'd bet you a beer it's parked. I'm 100% positive.
