The reason the military used to use boiling water to wash out corrosive salts from barrels was that the heat of the boiling water ensured that the barrel and another other metal that it came in contact with, got so hot that they basically dried themselves. A wipe through the barrel, let it air dry until cooler, then oil.

Get a small funnel that fits the chamber and do likewise.
 
Yea I notice a huge difference being on the coast. In Alberta, I can not clean my sks while using corrosive ammo and it doesn't rust at all. Out here on the west coast, you leave something without a coating on it (let alone having corrosive chemicals on it) and it rusts right away.

Agreed, different climates effect your gun in different ways, on the west coast, they will rust quickly.
