Not the same as the .455 revolver ctg but a very cool acquisition nevertheless if you can do it. Make sure it has the correct .455 semi-auto barrel and you're in business. Easy to convert it to .45ACP with just a barrel swap, too.
 
well i think i am going to go for it but it has a "story" and i am afraid the guy wants a price for the story. I told him this exactly i buy the gun not the story, and unless there is proven providence like a pic with the said soilder with the gun, or a kit issue cert with the serial number than, i can only ive him market value, I know ill get it hopefully for a good price

Actually, the 5000 Canadian-purchase WWI M1911 Colt pistols were all chambered in .45ACP ... it was the British-contract pistols which were made in .455 Auto.

So, you may wish to check that out - is it just an assumption on the part of the seller (or you) that it is .455? Or is it in fact a British pistol?
 
.455 revolvers

I currently have nine revolvers in my ".455 Family" :D

(I use the term "Family" because my count includes a .476 Enfield revolver. As you may know, the caliber and cartridge case specifications - except for case length - are essentially identical for the various .476, .455 and .450 British service revolver rounds. For all practical purposes, they are all .455's ... I mention that in the hope that it expands the possibilities for whatever project you have ... ;) :evil: )
 
well, i know all about cdn issued ww1 1911's i have had 2 myself, commercial ones, I asked hte seller about it and he said that it was a 455, I asked him to check the barrel because i was well aware that many were converted to 45 ACP, I will have a better idea in a few weeks when i get a look at it.

I tend to think it was an assumption of the seller,but he was pretty convinced it was 455, but i dunno i gave him some things to look for and he has yet to get back to me, it belonged to a friend of his who has passed away and as tol to me has been sitting on a shelf for about 30 years, he has only seen it once,

so we will see i will keep th masses updated, could be a good find could be a great find we will see,

I own a 1916 S&W Second Model Hand Ejector that shoots 455 Webley.

I also paid a guy in Vancouver (initials O.C.) for a Webley MkVI but he took the money and never sent the gun! Yeah, I'm still p!ssed and thought I'd remind everybody about this thief.:mad:
 
Just curious if anyone out there would know the value of a 1916 455 Webley Mk VI, I got one with 4 long guns, a highstandard 9 shot .22 revolver, a gun cabnet, and a hole ton of ammo for 800.00 bucks. I got all this from a guy who was letting his restricted licence go. So if any one can give me an idea what the value of one would be worth in what I would consider to be fair to very good condition that would be great. Thank you , eltigra306.

Hard to say, without a lot more inforamtion about condition. So "$100 and up" is about all one can say ....

Mind you, nowadays, I honestly feel that the $100 range would be for a "parts gun", and any halfway decent (as in complete, functional, shootable, and in original .455) MKVI Webley is probably worth at least $250 - double that (or more) if it was in the USA ...

Sounds like you made out all right on that deal, eltigra .....
