Some people will never truly seek out and enjoy economy of force(minimal lethal force concept)
Is why most provinces have a primitive weapon season for at least deer hunting.
Others enjoy and seek out handgun hunting for wild boar. It's human nature to seek adventure, maybe relive our settler past, etc.
Is kind of on a mental level equally admirable to fasting for four days. Use of less resources is good for our environment, good for your human nature too.
Pick up a bow, pick up a muzzleloader for merely filling your larder. You will learn to be a patient hunter.

My brother hunted whitetails in Saskatchewan with a 375 H&H just because it was there. I believe that he got a deer, but I do know that he rolled a coyote with the rifle and 270gr Core-Lokts with spectacular damage.
I've owned a couple of Lotts. Rechambered them to 450 Ackley. Certainly did the job on all the game I tried them on, in both versions. - dan
I rolled a 'yote just out of my yard with a 375 WM... big hole, but not what I was expecting. A hot 7mm would have made the same damage IMO. But I was running Jethunters hard cast 250 grain pills, so that may have made the difference as well... Core-Lokts better bring it 'to the table' for the extra money spent I suppose.

1st time moose hunting. Sitting on a edge of a swamp in pouring rain over watching a huge swamp.
I had 2 cows and bull come running out into the middle of the swamp. Did the loudest worst moose call I could and they all stopped. Ranged it at 376 yards, waited til she was broadside, quartering away and squeezed a shot off.
I remember looking back after the shot to see 2 moose running straight away and almost positive I seen 4 legs in the air then they went over.
Walking over to where I shot I kept thinking did I really see it Bang/flop? Or did I miss and it was 3 running away?
Find the moose, Huge cow. 180g bullet zipped threw both lungs, touched heart and exited. You can see the exit hole in the picture. Moose looks more surprised than I was.

Some truth to that. Over the decades I've met many new hunters with 300 magnums of various flavors who were quite frightened of their rifles' recoil. - dan

Yep, the 300wm be snappier in recoil for rifles of similar weight. The 375 H&H is a far more adaptable & pleasant cartridge to load for in uses ranging from round ball pest plinkers on up to 300 gr solids for the biggies. Rather accurate as well with decently constructed loads.
A wee poke to the 300 mag shooters.

Depends; my M70 Alaskan 375 weighs less than one of my M70 featherweights in 270 Win and more than the other one. I'd describe it as a kick. Nobody is going to confuse it with thistle down settling on the grass.
My 700 Custom shop 375 is 10.25 pounds and is very comfortable. Maybe that one is a push? Not even much of a push.
My CZ 550 is rebarrelled to .375 Weatherby comes back in a rather abrupt fashion.
My Weatherby Ultra light weight in 300 Weatherby would get your attention, but my MRC in 300 Win with a very dense piece of walnut is little more than a nudge.
My Kimber 300 WSM is sort of like winding up and throwing a potato chip as hard as you can. Nothing much there either.
So it depends. None of them should be confused with a near death experience.

Worst recoiling rifle I ever owned. A Savage 110 in 7mag. First shot bang on, second shot maybe on the paper, third shot miss a 4x8 plywood. Started me on a journey to increase my recoil tolerance.
