Holy ####? What happened to this thread and why was i missing out.
For starters,
Methods:
Hmmm, I have hunted some pretty thick stuff. and open plain and mountain.
I take the shot that presents itself, but will not push my gun beyond it's limit.
If I have a shot on a moving back, I usually don't stop to wonder, hmm, at 45 yrds, at 38 degrees quarter with a wind from the southwest...,
I up and shoot
As for what's ethical and so on and fair game etc.
I'm not sure that I could say that Shooting a deer on the run in thick brush is a no no, just not right, we're ethical hunters around here.
with one breath
and advocate for taking pitures of the animals all night and day long , knowing exactly where he was, when and what he eats and what time.
and simply going out and waiting. i'm not sure what it is called, but it is not scouting.
I get #### for my oppinions, and that's fine, but I don't particularly think it's gaming to always sit in a tree over bait, use cameras that take pictures all night and all day, trade off hunting skill for long reaching rifles, etc etc etc.
I, myself "insert personal oppinion" not slagging anyone, do not think that a 600 yrd shot accross a valley at an elk is hunting. I think it is the same as having a rifle hooked up in the woods somewhere and shooting it off your computer by sattelite with the mouse and a click.
Again, my oppinion, but I certainly think a running shot is much more fair play, then a 700 yrd shot on animal that you simply pick out with a spotting scope and put crosshairs on.
I find that the chance of the game actually outsmarting you and getting away, is not even in the hunt for many of you any more. Why would anyone want to increase their odds to the point that they are always victorious over nature. What is the difference in shooting an elk 700 yrds away from mountainside, or 600 yrds overhead from a helicopter. I look at them as them a being very similar
Everyone has his own way, and all fits into hunting. And if you use cameras, 700 yrd rifles and infrared goggles, and it is legal, then you're A O.K. in my book, ... I myself could never do it, nor want to, but that's whats' nice about not being communist.
