Does AK furniture fit the Type 81?

i didnt know anything about Zenitco till i just googled and i must say, now i know where you are going with this. their AK looks very cool.

i see from your draft that there will be a left handed cocking top cover?

Yes there will be the option for a left side cocking handle. We will try to include the mounting points for the dust cover attachment in the polymer handguard to allow for a solid top rail if you are interested.

I promise that we should have the designs done by the new year, hopefully the prototype by the end of January, and we should be able to start taking pre-orders in February. It might be delayed by a month or two but a little optimism can't hurt. And bfiles, send us a pm and we'd be more than happy to send you one of the prototypes to test out before we go into the main run.

Hows the progress on this projecting coming, its only been 13 days :)

I'm with the majority. Stock looking furniture in polymer please. I'd buy some.

The only "tactical" option I'd genuinely like is a purpose-made scope mounting option, like an AK side rail, but made to fir the type 81 well without a bunch of modification. Or alternately, a drop-in conversion mount that replaces the rear irons for mounting a small red dot.

are u sure about picatinnies all around the clock... what about removable picatinnies?

I am always surprised with ppl trying to get rid of open sights like putting red dot instead of rear sight...it is so against the military rifle ide. fog, crack name it and if u dont have back open sights then u r done.unless u wanna create sofa rifle then yes, get rid of open sights, the only really stable after market mount would be side mount or rail integrated to the receiver. yes I have seen lately AK does dust cover rail but if u do it like them.. then fine

Well we should still be able to keep within our projected time frame and hopefully get the prototypes ready for around February, and then our first run shortly after. We will keep you updated with progress, and probably start a new thread devoted to this topic in the new year. Don't worry you'll be one of the first to know of any developments.

will that design of picatinny on the dust cover will be holding zero really?

We are basing our design off of a proven Russian design, and we will only sell the dust cover if it does reliably hold zero. If it doesn't we will simply work to find another solution.

Check out gunbroker.com but may not be easy to get them to ship up here nowadays.

But if you are handy with wood , it wouldn't be to difficult to attached a handle to the t81 lower HG.

Anyway back to the thread topic....
Say I picked up a used folder. But I wanted to swap my folding stock for a fixed T81 stock; are the receivers on either type the same? Ie can I just take the folder off and slap on a fixed assuming I had one and the hardware?
And 2. Has anyone modded a much more readily available ak stock to fit a T81 yet?

No you cant, the tangs are different that go into the reciever. Wood stocks can be sanded to fit, about it.

That's the point of this company making the AK furniture to fit

Balls...who the hell makes a proprietary receiver of the same gun to fit a piece of furniture!?

Crazy Chinese....
If it's at least possible then I can pull it off for sure. I haven't had a chance to handle or even see one in person yet to closely inspect it.

Hows this project going????

Make a whole set like this (but able to.mount onto the T81 the same way as original T81 furniture):

Or even just handguards like this:

To make it into something like this:

Id be down for a set like this. Love the palm swell so it would be a must for me!

I dont think you understand, they are making this set to fit the rifle. Not taking an AK set and modding it to fit
ah ok, i thought they want to fit an existing ak furniture to t81
I hope they make composite available first and then wood. in fact i am pretty happy with T81 wood furniture, but more modern is missing on the market
