Does an all-around gun exist?

I feel bad for the op, it is not that complicated....grab a 12 ga pump, multiple barrels, make sure it feels good... Shoot it a lot easy...

Begin with a 12ga weatherby PA459 at $460 ishh, light-removable chokes-adjustable rear sight-pistol hand-etc..., way money left for another toy...

Devil's advocate. For $460 he can get any number of the 870 express models and get a gun that is steel, proven, durable, has incredible spare parts availability, and is not made overseas by "who knows who" before being re-branded Weatherby. Just saying.

I had a 870 express pistol grip before my weatherby, sold it with no regret, I prefer the Weatherby way much...., lighter, more confortable grip, more easy target inquiry with the natural angle of the forend, removable chokes, etc..., options that the 870 did not have...

Edit : and the action on the Weatherby is way smoother than a 870.

Sounds great. Now I have a question for you. Did you ever try to source parts for a weatherby pump. How did that work out
Oh yes the express does have removable choke tubes in the model the OP would require

Cheers

No, no need for parts so far the gun is just great out of the box, works flawless, no issues with it, shooting range, hunting.

I hope you never will but if you shoot it enough there will be a time. Good luck with their customer service and finding what you need in canada
Also the couple I have handled shot low when patterned one was very low like 12"
Some of the common problems some are having from what I have been told and seen in one
The finish is very soft and easy scratch especially the metal. Empty hulls are occasionally hanging up on the extractor when ejecting fired cases. Some times they flip around in the chamber and jam instead of ejecting cleanly. The carrier not consistently lifting some rounds high enough to be fed into the chamber without snagging. Cycles well if pumped slowly, but anything quick like skeet not so good
All I know is both owners here later replaced them with a BPS and a wingmaster
Might be fine for your needs if one only does the odd hunting and the range but not for the volumes of rounds it will see shooting trap as the OP wants to use it
Cheers

In my opinion, the new 870 express are junk compared to the originals.... My 870 express was purchased 23 years ago and was one of two guns I purchased at the time.... My fiirst self purchased guns actually.....

Back then the internals were all real metal, the stocks were cheap wood and the finish was parkerized......

Mine has been under water, dropped, etc and still performs flawlessly.... But I do clean my guns after each field use.... It now sports a tru-glo barrel with fiber optic sights and a Boyd's stock set, and has some minor freckling here and there on the receiver...... But it will never leave my hands..... It is my turkey gun....

Funny to think I paid $239 for it back then.... Was packing groceries for a meager fee... Lol

Bottom line, that thing has taken more lives than any other gun I own and multi species as well.... Deer, upland, bear, waterfowl etc.... I hunted religiously and it was all I could afford....

I fully endorse either an old express or wingmaster in the 870 platform....
