Ok, bears aside as meat is only a smal part of their diet. Has anyone here eaten carnivores/predators such as: Coyote/Fox/Coon/etc.?
If so describe how you would prepare it and what it is like.
Are there any dangers eating such animals that would be any different than eating more common game?

My father claims a buddy of his ate skunk and it wasn't very good.

:Well I dont think eatin a carnivore would taste very good, they eat dead rotten things and other meat....but if I were to prepare this Id use lotsa seasoning:D....But any way, I dont think it would hurt you any to eat it, just might not taste to good...;)

The Koreans eat dogs, I have met some people that have been there that say it tastes like regular meat just more meaty

Cougar is apparently excellent. I know a guide from the Island (Vancouver) that trades cougar for elk meat with a couple of guys. Everyone I know who has tried it says it is great, of course no one has shared any with me

A buddy of mine got a bobcat once, we were going to try it but ended up with an elk the next day and figured we had better options.

Cheers

Ive eaten cougar as a kid, as my dad was a taxidermist.
It was white meat tasted good (till he lifed me up to see the boiling skull in the pot) :D It was the meat around the neck but it was good really!

I have tryed and eaten pinemartin on the trapline along time ago.
It was sweet and Rubbery like octopus but to tough.

There a bunch of Cgners that are eating wolves apartenly but thats another story

I ate cougar at a game banquet in BC one time a few years ago. Have eaten quite a bit of lynx that trapper friend shares with us.

Both are quite delicious!

Might just as well eat house cats.

I wouldn't even entertain the idea when I have 1 1/2 freezer full of assorted meats and deli meats made from venison, elk and bison ... why?

No elk, but you can add to that sheep, moose and caribou in our two freezers. The wild cat still tastes like chicken. :D

My Father told me that back in the 30`s they knew of a family that ate Gophers, but hey it was the 30`s :)

And it was outlawed in 1385 or 1382 to eat cats in England. :(

Lots of Folks in BC eat Black Bears.......I'm pretty sure they eat meat once in awhile;)
Grizz is often comsumed as well.......although I've never tried it some say it's quite good. (I'd suspect this depends...an Old Boar feeding on rotten salmon can't be too tastey ?)
I have had Cougar at a BC Game Banquet...it was actually good :)

I'd eat any critter I could shoot if Starving.......fortuneatly I'm not so I can just pick out the Tastey ones:D
